I have actually played at St. Andrews and I don't care how strong the wind blows, a ball will not roll 80 yards plus. This is unrealistic. I love your game and glad it's free, but can you adjust SW so it's closer to real.

Also, seems to be more frequent glitches on short distance shots. Just had one that I know I hit at 31 yards but ball flew 46 yards against wind. Just sayin...

Having played St Andrews a few times, I can attest that depending on where the ball lands, it can roll a long way.

Not sure what you mean by having the SW closer to real. If you mean bunker play, I agree but conversely we do not need the game to be easier.

I an not a maths professor, but if you hit the ball 31 yards, I cannot see how the ball could have possibly gone longer or shorter than that 31 yards, just sayin....

But the key is calculations and notes - remember the meter scale is not linear and the roll out also depends on spin and attributes of your ball. Also pay attention to the shot type and club....many players get caught out by using the caddies recommendation!

If having played St A IRL is a qualification for joining this thread then count me in. I too have played The Old Course and from championship tees but here we are talking about an online game not RL, which is totally different.

I must admit Nibbles, I am surprised that you obviously haven't come to grips with your short game after your 5 year membership here.  I know that if I Punch my CL 64 @ 72% it will stop within 3ft of the pin every time. That's not a boast, just a simple fact. Naturally I may increase or decrease the percentage by 1% either way subject to a steep incline up or down. Give it a try.

Btw, don't suppose your first name is Mashie by any chance?

any one who believes this game is realistic is living in cloud cuckoo land....

i have experienced so many shots where the game just drops the ball short ie 88 yrd with a +10wind...hit my wedge 85% which should be 85yrds...ball stop 80-82 on a ding!! its happens more when i am below par... so something is defo very fishie about this game...

Nope, power vs distance is not linear.

It is close to linear in the 90% to 100% range, with 90% power being around 88-90yds for a 100yd rated wedge, dependant on the club and ball being used. Then the distance drops away a little more vs power down to 80%, then there is a rapid drop-off after that.

This is where mapping your clubs and knowing their distances comes in handy.

In the future, maybe you might want to consider that if you hit your wedge at 85% on a ding that it's going to go... 80-82 yards?

Just throwing that out there. :-)
