It is funny that you brought this up. I had a friend who was talking about the cost of an ace in real golf. It sort of varies from place to place.
My first ace was on a weekday afternoon after work with a few friends. In this club there was a hole in one club, you were charged $1 whenever someone made an ace and they got the pot. First ace netted me about $200 and since it was late afternoon on a weekend, the drinks in the bar cost about $50.
Second ace was similar, late on a Sunday afternoon. Different club, $2 hole in one club fee. Got about $500 and had a bar tab of about $30. Third ace at the same club happened on a Saturday during our member / guest. Hole in one club got me about $550 and my bar tab was about $800. It would have been much worse but there was free beer on the course during the tournament.
Final ace (so far) was at a new club. $2 hole in one club get me about $1500, dual course club with over 900 members. Open bar for the rest of the day at one of the bars / dining rooms cost me about $600, this was on a Wednesday morning.
I'd be interested to here what types of hole in one clubs, stories etc. are out there.
