Right now i carry my driver and either my ping 235yard 3wood or my R11 227yard 3wood depending on the course. I am almost to level 82 and was thinking about the R11 225yard hybrid. Would losing a few yards from both of my 3woods be made up for being able to have a little more options out of the rough? most times depending on the rough i either use a full shot or i punch an iron depending on the situation. any thoughts? keep in mind that when i reach level 85 i plan on getting the 240yard 3wood but was thinking about still carrying a hybrid on say bethpage or maybe even oakmont.

I don't carry a hybrid.  I opt for a 4th wedge instead; like how your bag is set up now.  I've played this way for over a year now and have not had any issues getting out of the rough.  I generally use my 3 iron and punch out of the rough if it's over 200 yrds to the green.  In some cases, depending on the percentage, I punch with my 3W with good results too.  The R9 (280 yrd) driver gets the ball far enough off of the tee that I've had relatively few issues on any of the courses unless I've just buried the ball in the rough stuff.

I assure you that when you do get the R11 3W you'll like it.  Save your credits and don't get a new hybrid.  The set up your using now is by far the best combination for success and the R11 3W performs great.  Just my humble opinion.

One more question? Is the level 80 driver worth the credits for the extra five yards i will gain or is the difference in meter speed more likely to mess with my timing?

If your thinking new driver, I would suggest you wait until level 88 and opt for the R11. Swing meter is same as u have now, but the precision is much greater. I personally love the R11.

I think that you will find that you use a fourth wedge many more times than a hybrid over the course of play.  I have 115, 95, 75 60 in terms of wedges and with punches and flops I can cover most of my distances below 115 pretty well.

The R11 Hybrid is a very versatile club, you can punch it out of 40/50 up to 200 yds, it has adequate length to substitute for a 3W. Even though the listing says 222yds, you usually get closer to 230!. It fits the long par 3's on Kiawah nicely and at least 1 of the par3's on all the other courses. I carry it nearly all the time, only exception is back 9 of Andrews where if you have a headwind it  will usually not have the length to reach the 2nd fairway on the par 5, in fairness though, sometimes a regular 3 wood wont either! I am talking from the legend tees, however from master tees it should replace your 3 wood even better!

The level 82 R11 Hybrid is an awesome club. I carry all three of the upper R11s and only 3 wedges. 115, 86 and 50. I find I can "lay off" a wedge and be more precise with approach shots than I can laying off fairway woods or long irons. And being on the back tees on some of these par threes I need all the fire power they offer. With that set up I feel I have everything covered. 240yrd, 225yrd, and 210 with my 3 iron.

That hybrid will stick with backspin, too. As someone else mentioned, it's phenomenal out of the rough. Even 40-50% lies.

All three of those clubs are very forgiving unless you really miss the dinger. But beware, those clubs will carry a long ways. The 3 wood will carry 240 in the air with little to no tail wind. And with backspin it will stick pretty darn good, too. So reaching par 5s when you still have 250 to 260 is not a problem. I use the 3 wood quite a bit on Oaks shorter par 4s and it will usually drive the ball 260-270 depending on wind.

BTW, I used to have the Ping 3 wood you use now. IMO the R11 is twice the club as that Ping and it used to be one of my favorites.

I would wait until you level up to each of the upper R11s. No sense wasting your credits on the lower level R11s and then rebuying the uppers when you get there. IMO.

    Good luck

I went and bought the hybrid and have tried it a few times. it is a really nice club and will use it from time to time. It would be nice if we had an option to drop and iron and carry the hybrid with a 3 wood cause i like carrying 3 wedges and dont want to change that.

Here's that club on Bethpage #7 from 238 yrds with 8mph from the left. No backspin. Love this club. And of course I lipped out the 11 foot downhill putt. DUH!
