  Don't know if anyone suggested this or not, but I think a driving range that you could control the conditions ( wind) would be a great Idea so you could test out clubs that you rent. It does not tell ya much when you are playing a course with 30mph winds.

  It's only been suggested once, each, by everyone who has a WGT account.  Best thing when trying different clubs is to set up a practice round on Kiawah, or Bethpage Black with low wind. I usually use Kiawah #1 or #10.

  Using the ball you plan to play with,  "Map" the club distances in both directions (with and against the wind) to get an average of the distance when landing on the fairway.  If you leave the shot box on, it will tell your "carry" and roll distances. Make good notes, especially of the "carry" distances. I take it one step further and also "Map" my approach shots with each club to the green.

  I normally get the numbers for at least 90%, 95%, and 100% power shots with neutral (0) spin, 3/4 and full back spin.   If I want more info then I will also do shots @ 97% power and add additional spin conditions for 3/4 and full TOP Spin for everything listed above.  I also like to get Tee shot distances for everything.  For the shorter and middle irons I usually set up something from the "Red Tees".

  Keep in mind the maximum # of shots allowed on any one hole is 15.  So it takes a while and you have to set it up several times.  Also remember that the mulligan feature available in practices rounds charges your ball with an extra shot for each one.

  This system works for me.

  Looking back I guess I went just a bit over the top in my reply.

  1)IRL, driving ranges cost money!

  2)You get to pick the club you want to use.

  3) You have to pay for the # of range balls, you use.

  4)You don't get to pick the wind direction or speed.

  All of that happens IRL

  WGT gives you the ROCK.

  Allows you to practice on almost all their courses, except the ones you have to pay for.

  You can choose 3 different wind types, and Greens speeds.

  And if you have a desire to loose your high priced balls, you can do that too with mulligans.

  So, since 've been here less than 2 years, WGT has added PB and  putting greens and some other stuff. Good IT people are hard to find, and need to be paid good money. And if you still want that driving range keep renting clubs and playing in 30mph winds loosing as many balls as possible to buy more. And Some Day they will say we want to make more money so Let's add a Driving Range and make them pay for the ROCK!
