Just wonder if this has ever been brought up, I'm sure it has..

I think it would be really effective at getting rid of these multi accounters.

In order to play in any credit based game. Rgs, mpc, etc. you have to get verified (gov id, utility bill etc)

If people don't want to do this then they don't have to play credit games..

    yes, no?

While this sounds like a good idea on the surface, I really doubt it is doable, or even a good thing in the wrong run. Biggest problem I can is is that comes very close to being an invasion of privacy issue, not to mention an open invitation to identify theft!

Just my initial reaction, but I'd have to say no! Good suggestion though, maybe they could do an IP verification, to avoid the multi accouters!!!

There isn't any way for wgt to verify your IP, period. Any assertion that they can do that is simply not true.

They can see the IP you're connecting with at the time you're playing, but that doesn't mean it's your IP, simply the inbound connecting IP.

I've been preaching this for a long time. You're right, in that it would kill off multi's and restarts.

There is more of a risk to one's "identity" just playing this game (Flash!!!) or simply opening the wrong email than what WGT requires for verification. They don't want or need anything whatsoever with numbers that could come back on you later. I sent my DL in but had the DL # blacked out (even though there isn't much one could do with a DL #).

The only reason I can think of that this isn't implemented is that killing off multi's and restarts would also hurt those inflated player number or some states and countries maybe don't allow the "gambling", and many of those players in those states/countries simply use VPN's to have an IP from another state/country., and by getting verified, the truth would come out concerning where they live.

It's all about TG's revenue, not what's right or fair to the players.

Simple business decision on their end. Sucks for us, though.

With no undue disrespect to WGT who would they have to verify?

I saw, just last week in the forums someone say they were verified with docs that had more Tippex than type left (almost).......................Looked a reliable source too

Do it properly and they convince people of that (really convince) they might get a few more.  I would suggest anyone that gets "gifted" to more than once also needs to be verified, and that the limit be set at a once only l33 cally set of balls anyway until verfied.............."Gifting" generally wants thinking about, IMNHO..........

    Won't happen...........

Before I start, I've never been verified.  No big reason.  Probably more of a grudge against wanting to give away personal info but in truth, I've just never felt the need.  Could someone explain the difference with what you gain/lose in regards to Verification vs None?

Having said that, I'm not sure getting Verified or even trying to track someone's IP has any relevance on Multi's at Wgt.  While I hope it's not true, I tend to agree with Jayw4862 that profit and revenue is the main culprit here.  And back to Wgt tracking someone.  There are Sooooooooooo (there's a lot man) many ways you can be tracked besides your IP.

This leads me to believe the best way to curb Multi's is for the Community to be proactive in helping.

    Happy Holidays.

I principle, I like the idea....and as I do not play credit games, it does/would not impact me.

But WGT/TG will never do this as it will reduce the number of players entering RG's and/or challenges, thus reducing their revenue.

It will not necessarily reduce multi accounters as if they want to create false ID's it is remarkably easy to do so......and IP's can easily be masked.

Not all players trust WGT for various reasons and will not share information with a company that has not earned the trust of many players.

To put it into context, WGT care only about revenue - hence why the largely unpopular clashes and other unsavory sales tactics continue.......they will not do anything that may reduce this revenue stream - like I said, I agree with the Idea AB,,,,but sadly it will not happen.

    VERIFYING YOUR ACCOUNT

Why should I verify my account?

Verified accounts provide one more data point to inform players who they chose to play with on WGT. An additional benefit is that for players who have verified accounts will be eligible to redeem their WGT credits for real-world items from the Elite Collection in the WGT Pro Shop.

The bottom guy above was verified within the first few months of playing, who does that other than someone with full intentions of making lots of credits for purchasing gift cards, when we played one day I called him out on it and he just laughed.
