Why not sell a ball retriever? Say something like 5-10 uses for 100 credits. You can only retrieve your own ball and are given the option to leave the ball in the water. If everyone sticks one in their bag its a huge amount of income for WGT and the players are happy to get the ball back if it's a new one.

This one might be impossible but was thinking custom clothing for clubs winning in the CC clashes, Maybe just different coloured shirts, think its too much to do logo's or uniforms for all the clubs.

I was about to post along the same lines when I saw your thread.  If WGT is really that concerned that the simulation follows the real world as much as possible, then being able to occasionally retrieve a wet ball is far more realistic than the current setup.

I'm sure an algorithm could be created that would handle this. If consideration was given for the likelihood of retrieval (percentage based on how the ball went in), then a button could appear for ball retrieval if the player owned one. This would certainly be better than loosing every ball that rolls into the water!

If they want to simulate RL golf then they'd have to allow you to go search for a stray and come back out with maybe 2 dozen additional balls. :-)

I'd like to have the option of PLAYING the ball from the water, especially if its along the edge. Just like in the real game

WGT is pretty far away from real golf. Way way away. No need to add stuff that would just take more fixing at a later date.

How about the noise of a bag of malteesers being rustled as im about to tee off.

Thats what happens when im playing IRL wi Tommy "one ball" Grieves.

P.S One ball aint a golfing reference, he got too close to a back of a bull when we were bairns.

Back in the day I played real golf - a lot.

    Usually 3 or 4, 18 hole rounds per week. - 52 weeks a year.

I lived in Tucson then. No winter.

In some 20 years of playing real golf I never owned a ball retriever.

I have been playing real golf for 43 years now - I know the difference.

    • Right now, WGT takes balls out of service due to "wear"
    • WGT doesn't allow balls of a different type to be accessed during a round, even a practice round

In all my years of playing I have never owned a ball retriever.  However, I have retrieved many balls that trickled into the water using a wedge, etc.  It is not realistic that all balls are lost.  It seems sometimes that WGT is into maximizing profits rather than improving the game.

    My ball recommendations:

    • Allow balls of a different type to be accessed during practice rounds
    • Allow ball types to be changed during practice rounds.  It's kind of ridiculous that I have to start a new round just to try out a different ball.
    • Don't want to add a ball retriever? - fine.  Simply allow a few balls that "trickle" into the water to be recovered (golfer is notified occasionally "ball recovered" and it is once again available for play).
