Please, please will you put a maximum distance of 2 feet for a gimme. To allow a player a gimme from over 9 feet is a complete nonsense. In any case no gimmes should be allowed in any game except match play.
Simple workaround: Get out of Amateur tier and don't play Hacks and Amateurs then!
And there are no gimmes in match play. Your opponent can concede a short putt but that is not a gimme. The player takes a gimme himself which is not allowed in match play.
Is a gimme allowed in Scored or Challenge games? I've seen it used in practice rounds.
Perhaps Mr Bensington hasn't found the side scrolling feature to change a practice round into a ranked round.
