  Hi guys,

   

  I have been doing a bit of research online about which clubs to buy. I have a budget of €60. This will need to last me until I get to about Master. After doing research and coming up with a decent draft I currently have this list.

  Driver: Taylormade R11(L29+)

  3-Wood:Taylormade R11(L30+)

  Irons: Ping G25(L35+)

  Wedges(56,60,64):  Taylormade AVT (L38+)

  Putter: Odyssey Sabertooth (L40+) or Taylormade Spider (L39+)

  All this comes to about 5965 credits. I'm a good player in reality and I understand that short game is the most important. I just want to invest in decent wedges and getting to level 38 wont be hard. I started on 22 feb and I'm already at 29. 

  Is this an OK set to get me where I need to go. I'm looking to score low. Mid 60 at most. I come from a very strong TW background and will be a good player in this once I get the equipment. I can't get below 70 consistently with the starter clubs. There just isn't enough give.

  When you have good equipment and play low scores, you will be promoted to the next tiers and to the next tees. Longer tracks need different equipment for most of us.

  So, be careful with your wishes and reluctant with your purchases.

  Most of your choices look good to me. My two Pfennig:

  Buy wedges, 3-wood, irons in this sequence of importance.

  Wait to level further up (or to tier up) before you buy a driver (too late I see), and take the L55 Daytona putter into consideration. Many say (as do I) that it's the best bang for bucks, and the Starter putter ain't too bad.

  Also, check into custom balls, from cheap to expensive. Any of them will have better characteristics and a slower meter than the Starter. On the downside, they wear and get lost, so they constantly drain credits from your purse. My long-time choice from TP on was the Tour-SD.

  Sure wish I would have stumbled across these threads sooner.  I play the game solely on a tablet and these forums are not accessible...

   

  I have been rolling along with the starters but have recently made a couple of purchases as it's frustrating not being able to reach the fairway from the tee at times.  I've purchased the Lvl 48 TM Driver and just purchased the Lvl 59 Ping G25's and based on the above post and starting to question if I've jumped the gun.  Love the driver but kicking myself a little for investing in the irons prior to wedges, putter, etc. based on the above comment from a long time player.

   

  Obviously can't undo what is done, but looking for advice on purchases going forward.  What should I consider in order of importance?  Specifics??

  The G-25s are great irons and will help improve your game by quite a margin, they will also get you to legend without having to upgrade along the way. You haven't made any mistake buying them.

  +1 And can take you to legend.

  Yes an upgrade of wedges and a decent putter will be required, A decent 3W will also help when you make masters, but 3 good wedges (ditch the hybrid) will dramatically help you around the greens.

  Wait as long as you can as better wedges become available. The problem many players have is they join the gravy train too early.....and upgrade a lot more than they should. Good for WGT, bad for the credit tally of the player.

  This putter is a virtual steal and will carry you well into the Level 90s...

  725 Credits extremely well spent
