I have been playing for a couple months now and think the game is great but it does have issues. mainly with chipping and putting. I am getting really tired of having 12 inch putts go WIDE when I hit the meter true and very little break. In real life even the biggest hack doesn't push/ pull a short putt like that that wide. Also chipping from the fringe or even the 1st cut rough. When you hit the ball hard enough for it to go past the hole and it only travels 2 inches. well that is just bull pucky. get it real.  otherwise good site. too many people complain about having to pay for things well they must not understand that there is no such thing as a truely Free website. they are all in it to make money or they wouldn't be here

I find the trick with short putts is to hit them hard enough to eliminate the break, at least a foot too hard. If you get it wrong on tourney greens you may find yourself with a longer return putt than the one you just had but anything is better than seeing the ball wander by the hole or stop 2 inches short.

Chipping has more than it's share of problems, there's an excellent guide here though: http://www.wgt.com/forums/t/7840

MainzMan is right...hit the ball harder on short putts and take out the break.  Never click on the down hill side of the meter...staying above the hole gives the ball a better chance of going in.  One technique you might try is intentionally missing the ding on the uphill side of the meter...try this technique in some practice games.  And try using the Free Starter putter...it has better precision.

I'm not sure how you're missing a 12 inch putt...I don't have to hit it any where near the mark and it still goes in, in fact I don't think it's possible to MISS a 12 inch putt anyways moving on...when you're in the rough on a real golf course would you normally "chip" the ball or would you use a lofted club and "pitch" the ball? Most of us would do the latter. It's all about learning the little quirks of the game...just like anything else you do there are the tricks of the trade that must be learned. Keep in mind that this is just a "video game" and that's how it must be played. I have played every virtual golf game on the market and this one is the ONLY one that even comes close to playing like the real thing. So...keep practicing stop complaining and have fun.
