So if you join the "Shanghai" or higher rooms, they are mostly populated with lvl70+ types with better clubs. Which means if you are a mid-40 lvl guy like me, with the expected equipment for that level, you have no way of winning. It's too hard to keep up them, especially the longer drivers on long par 4s and 5s.

It would be nice that instead of being committed just by clicking on "Play Now", if I get paired at with a Tour Legend at level 93 that I can bail. While there are plenty of comparable players for that user to go up against, I have almost no chance, which isn't very fun. And I don't want to play the lower rooms because then I'm the big fish in a little pond. Pairings need to be between like ability/equipped players. Too often it is not, and where I am seems to be a terrible in-between spot.

Then pay attention to their shot type and placement and use it as a learning experience.

You might also ask questions, most of them aren't afraid to answer, or offer help if asked.

Rooms with higher rewards get populated by higher ranked players who have all been where you are at level 40 and all had to play better players themselves. As said before, you can learn a lot by just asking and watching in these games.

I wouldn't go higher than Casablanca myself at level 40, the coins are too hard won to throw away in more valuable rooms, and no, to the other player, you quitting as soon as you see who you're playing is a major annoyance.

Sorry Gary, but your comments are naïve. The equipment differences (particularly balls) are just so great that in most cases the shot played by a lvl 102 Legend using 13000+ credit clubs and 600+ credit balls are just not achievable for a less financial player.

The only learning to come out of that sort of matchup is - To be competitive you MUST SPEND

Really?  You just might find a better way to play the hole, either where to approach from, or what area on the green to hit to.  Certainly you have to know the limits of your clubs and balls being used.  You do know, that as a Master, you tee from closer to the pin, then Legends, Tour Legends and Champions.  So the advantage of clubs really isn't there as much as you might think.

But in a sense, you will get a better idea on how to play the hole.  Most lower level players are still going to have a hybrid equipped, you are going to find by playing with the higher level players, is that it will be dumped in favor of a 3rd wedge.  As you have the hybrid, and the OP has neither a 3rd wedge nor a hybrid equipped
