Recently became a legend struggling with my level 47s nikes esp on longer pars 4. Was thinking either level 85 cally steelheads or level 90 Taylormades. Anybody played with both set of clubs?

I used the TM's when they became available to me, and made Legend shortly thereafter.  Around 6 months later, after I began having swing timing issues I went back to the lvl 80+ Nikes which are the same irons as the lvl 85 Callys, only with a 4.0 meter instead of the Cally 4.2 meter.

If you are comfortable with the 4.0 meter of your L47 Nikes, the TM's with a 3.0 may be too fast.  When I leveled up to lvl97 I had a free rental on the lvl97 callys.  They played the same as my lvl 92 Nikes, except with a 4.2 meter.

So I would guess that that applies to the lvl85's.

    Hope this helps.

    EDIT:

The attributes of the TM's are better, they will stick the greens better with a decent spin ball compared to the Nikes.   But the difference between 3.0 and 4.2 meter speed is really big.

And congrats on making Legend.  As you are finding out it's a different game now.

    Good Luck,

    Hey mate,

As Phred mentioned, the meter is a very important aspect of the clubs. In my opinion, the most important. I haven't used the new Callaway Steelheads but I did use the old level 85 Nike V Forged irons. They were awesome and I loved them, when I tried the level 90 TM irons I didn't like them because of the meter. It seems my sweet spot is a 3.5 meter so I've tried to keep all of my clubs, except putter, around the same meter speed. This consistency is important for me when playing different shots.

Try out the clubs mate and see which ones are the most effective for you. Also, if possible, try them with different balls to see if you can find the perfect setup for you :)

lol, I had terrible issues getting used to the 3,5 meter. Bought the Nikes and still played with TMs for months after. i was used to the 3 speed meter, having wedges with the same speed. But, after I had to switch from a PC with a perfect meter (that broke, unfortunately) to a laptop with a crappy one, I was forced to switch to the slower meter Nike irons. Took some time to get used to it and I had to get the new 3,5 meter CGs (the butt ugly ones) to go with it.

    @ the OP

If you're playing with the rocks you have equipped right now, definitely get the slower meter Callies.

I have used both. The only real differences are the slower swing meter of the Steelheads and the 3 irons. Taylormade's is 225 while the Steelheads is 220.

I actually went with the Steelheads for the meter and have had no real problem dropping the extra 5yds. the Taylormades gave me. You can make that up using longer hitting balls.

    Good luck out there.

First you have to get there before you can get them . At L82 you still have a ways to go . So you get the L83+ Pings G25s which are good clubs and then play them until you reach L90 . The G25`s will hold you until you get to the higher levels and give you the preparation time for the club upgrades when you get there .
