  sometimes I am playing with a ball to get rid of it...I would like to see a process whre I can have a back-up sleeve in the queue of a different ball.Case in point...I am on the third hole of a cc tourney with one hit left on a green volvik.   I have a sleeve of orange volvik's, but I don't have the option to switch to it. I get that this is a mechanism to increase revenue, but it is not realistic, and I am still using a ball I purchased if allowed to switch. Thoughts?

  The rules of golf allow you to switch balls unless the tournament committee invokes the one ball rule. The committee in this case (WGT) has invoked a modified one ball rule allowing you to finish with the free ball. If they followed the one ball rule to the letter as soon as your last ball was lost or wore out you would be DQ'ed and your round would end losing any thing that happened in the round.

  Without doubt, this has been the most discussed topic on these boards. The idea has been suggested many times over and hasn't changed. And I don't see it changing. It is what it is. So, when a player begins his or her round, they should just know how it's going to work.

  As a follow-up, the only way that I can continue, is to purchase the exact same ball. Modified one-ball rule, that I can only continue with the Exact same ball. Not right, and in this instance not possible. The ball I am using is the level 51 Volvik, which costs 400 credits per sleeve. The ball offered to me as the ONLY choice is 450 credits, which must be the Volvik level 53 vapor ball. Over-charge or exception to the rule. Something is not right.

  Short answer: use balls with limited life in ctth games where you can easily finish with the free ball once you run out of hits on the purchased ball. Maximum number of hits in any ctth round is 9 just in case you forgot.

  You`ve been playing now for 4 years and should know the answer to your post . Its always the same argument " player starts a round with 1 ball left and does it knowing so " .You know the whys as well as the what not to do`s and then question it all . Its very realistic because you started a round with only one ball equipped to play with and then you ran out . Sounds realistic to me .

  So instead of starting a round with one ball try starting with the other full sleeve . Doing this may keep you from running out depending on your play . Even better how about picking 1 ball brand color included and stick with it . Just one good ball that pleases you and make that the only ball you play when you play .

  I play the L35+ Cally ball its my ball of choice and works for me . I`ve tried others but really like this one over the others . I currently have 10 sleeves in my bag so nothing to worry about . I also use the rock when playing practice rounds  and it actually plays well enough to shoot decent scores .

  Learn to play with the rock , so when you get caught short in a round it wont matter . Even though WGT makes money off of ball sales the amount and when is up to you . So if you dont want to finish a round with the rock , then dont start one with one ball . Keep you bag stocked properly and the issue you create wont be an issue at all . .

  Then do so and stand to it. Don't whine about any other consequence.

  You didn't mean to contend in that tourney - you wanted to get rid of the ball. Period.

   

  About the other post, if it was like that, it would be a new display of greed:

  "Thou shalt not buy a different ball but a more expensive one!"

  Edit: I have experienced earlier that there was no offer whatsoever when a new purchase was unavailable. That happened to me when the type of Callaway balls had changed but I still played them, but it's even more likely when you use your random gifted ball. That was one of the rare moments when I was left with a rocket-meter Starter ball in the middle of a round.

  Sh*t happens.

  Then just check your inventory before you begin a game and if you're down to one ball, purchase a sleeve before you begin the game. Granted, what you describe here shouldn't happen. But since you know it does, then make the adjustment of when you purchase balls.

  At some point, one would think the student would realize that it's' no longer a "pop" quiz.
