11th hole at Congressional.. I hit my approach shot just barely into the back fringe..I ended up with a shot 15 feet beyond the hole, with a shot which read 6 inches downhill...

I hit the putt with 7 feet of power and it barely moved..the replay is below, but none of the angles gives a really  good view...nontheless, you can see that the ball only moved an inch..

This bug from the fringe has been going on forever here, and it is really frustrating that wgt can't resolve it..I suspect it may be a problem with the mapping as the shot reacts as if the ball were in the rough...

What is really frustrating is that I am grinding my butt off to make the cut...I was -5 at the time, and this shot resulted in me making bogey..

    Hi,

try chip or flop. I been there a few times and was able to holeout and get close. we have been looking at the fringe issue for a while but it's not that easy and it's very complex issue.

most of the problem is when you change fridge it throws other things out of wack. we are still working on it but there is no timeline for the change/fix on it

Please see my Congressional replay and let me know what I should have tried. It's in Bug log and on my profile page as Plexiglass in sky.  Quite amusing.

Thanks for the reply, and thanks for acknowledging the issue.. After my putt attempt failed I was able to chip it with full backspin and ended up 6 feet past the hole..

With regards to flopping it:  my 64 degree wegde goes 19 yds when hit full..Flopping a 5 yd shot would require much less than 50%... That's a lil scary... No ???  have you tried the flop in a similar position..?

    Thanks

ps... If and when WGT resolves this issue, can you please advise us that it's fixed, so-as  we can go back to using the putter from the fringe..?

I had same spot earlier today. Behind green 18ft, 15 down. I use chip little over high way, extra right and almost holed out.

You just need it to land on green and the rest will be taken care of by gravity

In alternate shot partners second on Congressional 11 went into the water hazard on the right of the green one shot penalty and this was the drop zone after one stoke penalty

Should have got a picture of the reverse because it seemed to say i had a shot where a this suggest otherwise.  Hit it 7.5 past the flag but reckon could have done better lol

One wonders about the fairness of the drop zone

I was in a similar fringe position somewhere on the Congressional course today...Yes, I tried putting...Yes, after being here 2 years I knew better...Yes, the ball barley moved.  I used chip for second try and it worked just fine...and Yes, I wish I had used that shot in the first place.

All I ask WGT, if and when this is ever fixed, please let us know so we'll know we can putt from the fringe again.
