Hi- Just promoted to TM a few days ago (wasn't expecting it as I only play head to head matches for coins and don't generally play tourny's or ranked rounds).  Anyway, in reading various threads here, it seems that a lot of folks claim Legend is extremely hard because you tee off "from the parking lot" or "in the next hemisphere".

I am wondering if the difference is that much greater than TM tees, especially for 18k and 90k coin matches or is it only when you play tournaments and ranked rounds?

    Thanks,

    Steve

It applies to all rounds where you use the default tees.

The difference depends a bit on the course. A few courses aren't that different (probably a matter of real estate) but on most, the difference in length is basically the difference between hitting a wedge or short iron on the approach and hitting a long iron.

Accuracy with the long irons and a deft touch around the greens are the most important qualities you'll need at the next tier.

K7 is absolutely right.  For example I picked #18 @ Congressional, a great Par 4 finishing hole.  The Yellow Tee's (TM) are 466 yds, the Black Tees (L and above) are 520 yds.

It will probably be most obvious on the Par 4's, but I imagine some Par 3's will show some difference also.  Just enjoy it as it's a whole new game.  Many approach shots will be long irons, or even a 3W when playing into the wind.
