I've added up my shots from yesterday to this morning. I bought 2 sleeves of the Callaway Legend Z's yesterday. That gave me 8 balls total. I had about 1 1/2 when I purchased the 6.

Here's my score history since yesterday morning. Actually I think the CCC 9 holes was before I purchased the balls but I'll add it anyway

    05.17.11 Kiawah Front 9 Ready-go Front 9 All Players 29
    05.16.11 St Andrews Full 18 Ready-go Full 18 All Players 62
    05.16.11 St Andrews Front 9 Ready-go Front 9 All Players 30
    05.16.11 May Multi-round Open Front 9 Legend 34
    05.16.11 Bethpage Front 9 Ready-go Front 9 All Players 28
    05.16.11 Bethpage Full 18 Ready-go Full 18 All Players 64
05.16.11 Virtual U.s. Open Qualifying Round Full 18 All Players 63
    05.16.11 St Andrews Front 9 Ready-go Front 9 All Players 30
    05.16.11 Bethpage Front 9 Ready-go Front 9 All Players 31
    05.16.11 Congressional C.C. Front 9 Legend 30

There's a total of 401 shots there. That is counting putting which is not suppose to count, correct?

I played one alt shot 9 hole game. I'll be generous here too and say 20 shots (way high)

I'll also be generous in my restarts of the Open and say 10 times @ 7 shots each for another 70 (way high too)

That is 491 total shots which INCLUDES putting. Starting with 7 1/2 balls I now have 3 1/2 left. I haven't lost any balls. This is all due to use.

491 divided by 4 = 123. Which is actually about 85 or so if you take off the putts.

So that comes out to what, about one ball every 36 holes? So it's costing .50¢ every 9 holes to play these Callaway 300 credit balls. Wow....

    123 - 85 = 38 putts over 4 rounds.   38/4 = 9.5 putts per 9 holes!!

Damn!  Can I get a putting lesson??

I give up a little distance and spin and use the regular (non-legend) Callaways and can attest to about 120 hits per ball (does not include putts).

I figure 20 hits for me over 9 holes gives me 6 rounds and about 17¢ per round.

Using the same calculation and your 85 hits for the Legend Callaway I'd pay about 24¢ per round.

one ball every 36 holes is one ball for 4 nine hole rounds.  25¢ per round..

BTW That 491/4 was hits divided by balls. Not hits divided by rounds. So I only got 123 hits per ball NOT deducting putts. How many of those were putts? I have no idea. I just guessed. If subtract more putts that gives me less hits lol.

That was a mistype on the 9 holes in my last paragraph. I'm not THAT bad at math.

That's why I had (sorta) in the title. I did all the math (if that's what you wanna call it) quickly.

It just seemed to me, and a few others, these balls were not lasting as long as they used to.

You said you can attest to 120 hits per ball. Have you noticed any difference lately?

I realize the balls shouldn't last forever. WGT needs a steady stream of revenue. But damn, I still have some balata balls that I use every now and then. I guarantee they have way more than 36-45 holes on them.

Do what i do, go for the longer lastin standard callaways, and maybe if just playing alt shot or normal rounds with friends use the srixon balls, i tried those, and not much difference distance wise to standard callaways, and a $ cheaper aswell.

Use Callaways for tourneys, and Srixon for messing about with friends.
