Have been playing this great wgt for a while now but seem to have hit a brick wall on improvement.I am at the tour pro level. Can usually knock it round in level to slightly under par on most courses.Best round ever was a 64 at Kiawah. When i look at some of the leaderboards the scores seem out of this world,15,16,17 unders etc.Fantastic scoring that seems a million miles away.

How can i improve to the next stage to compete in tournaments and push the leaders. Is it my clubs? My averages dont seem that bad.My putting?Perhaps i dont make enough birdies!

Any advice greatfully received,Many thanks fellow players.

Buy the best clubs you can afford. Get rid of the spider putter. Keep the faith that you will get better. It takes along time and lots of practise, people think there are short cuts to getting better... not true. Read all the tips in the forums and over here------>>>>>>>>>

Having taken a look at your stats looks like you have a reasonable game going.

Your putting stats are dismal to say the least.

Personally I would try a different putter to see if that may help, other than that it's just a little

closer the next time or a little straighter or a little more course knowledge and time and

    experience will win out.

Hello there AnotonClarke. Let me first start out by saying that I am in no way some great player on here. But I have been playing here for almost a year and have played many games since. I have almost 500 ranked rounds played, a little over 100 match play games in, and a little over 200 alternate shot games in. So in other words I have no life. :)

Now I took a look at your stats and I could sit here and break down your stats all day long. But stats don't always tell the whole story. But let's take a look at two things. First your sign-up date and then how many ranked rounds you have in. You signed on on Jan. 12, 2011. So you have been here about 4 months. And what I say to that is....give it some time. Your a Tour Pro. Your not doing that badly. And the other thing is you only have 72 ranked rounds played. If you want to get up to the Master and Tour Master tier quicker your going to have to play much more than that. I made Tour Master not too long ago and it took me 462 ranked rounds played. Now sure you could do it much quicker than that. But your going to have to keep at it. Just like other people have said there are NO shortcuts. Practice, practice, practice. Learn each and every course inside out. It took me quite a while to learn each course but I got there. And really I'm still learning. I still have much to learn. But for the most part when I play St. Andrews I really don't have to think too long as to what club to use or what type of shot to use. I have played it so much that I just know. So then it comes down to execution. But just give it time and a little dedication and before you know it you will be shooting low consistently.

And the other thing I would tell you is to play with other people. I saw that you have only played 3 match play games. And I don't remember how many alternate shot games you have in, if any, but I know it's quite low. These types of games have been such a useful tool for me. And I try to play people that are better than me. And their are plenty of people way better than me. But playing these games have been so helpful because you not only get to watch them play their shots but you get to chat to them as well. And for the most part, most people on here are more than willing to answer any questions you have concerning different shots and what to use when. So even though match play and alternate shot games don't count towards your stats they will in the end help you when you play a ranked round.

Also like somebody suggested go out and buy high trajectory shot clubs. Buy a new putter. I would suggest the Redwood. I never played with the Daytona but I have heard many good things about it. So maybe the Daytona would be better for ya. Personal preference their. And then think about playing with a particular type of ball. I use Calloways. I know they are pretty expensive but they are pretty damn good. If they are out of your price range how about trying the new Srixon balls that were just brought out. I'm starting to hear good things about them. Oh and while I'm thinking of it, use different types of spin on your balls. In my opinion this is a huge factor when playing certain shots on where the ball will land and stop. Going to have to experiment with that one. And lastly if there is a particular hole your having trouble with then come on the forums here and post your question, being as specific as possible and ask for help. I did this very thing and got responses from some of the best players ever. So all you got to do is ask and somebody will always offer up some kind of advice.

So keep your head up. Just practice a lot. And make sure to play many more match play games. Also feel free to look me up and shoot me a friend request. I would be more than happy to play a few rounds with you and answer any questions you may have. And again I'm not some amazing  player but I have played a little more than you have and other people have helped me in the past so it's only right that I pass on what I have learned. I hope this helps you on your journey to the next tier. Good luck to ya.

Yes, but not what you bought. It's what you didn't buy that, ironically,  has the most impact on your game-the wedges. I would suggest you get the Satin 64w and the 60w (77 yds.) They're cheap and will make an immediate difference for you. Your scrambling percentage will improve, your sand saves will improve and  your putting will improve because you'll be closer to the pin on your ups.

IMO, if you get those 2 wedges and learn all 5 shots with them you will have excellent coverage from 85 down to 6 in any lie with just those 3 clubs. They will really help you a lot.  GL

Anton had the game for a while never started to play it until last week.

I put this on another board for Putting Helps thought maybe I would stick it here so you can get to it easier. Something I use in all the golf games I mess around with for Putter.

Get a piece of paper and something to write with Ink Pen / Pencil.

Set club to Putter / put paper next to screen so you can make a mark on the start swing and full swing.

Once you have the start putter swing and full putter swing mark / fold paper so those 2 marks you made line up, now you have half power swing / fold again line up marks now you have 1/4 - 1/2 - 3/4 power I fold mine 1 more time to give me 1/8 settings.

I use the Spider putter as well, so I have marks for these putts.

    3 feet / 6  / 9  / 12  / 15  / 18  / 21  / 25  - with putter set to 25

    6 / 12 / 18 / 25 / 31 / 37 / 43 / 50 - with putter set to 50

    12 / 25 / 37 / 50 / 62 / 74 / 86 / 100 - with putter set to 100

Depending on which putter a person has as well screen settings the piece of paper will be different for each person. But I hope this helps to take some of the guess work out of a putt. Just keep the line good and hit it hard enough to get it through the door so you don't leave them standing on the porch looking in.

wow great advice here... as master yota said i2 have hade great help from manny so ill pay it froward too.

i went on line and found a 10cm ruler i reversed it and made it in a few diff sizes till i found the one that fit the meter i play in full screen using f12. i bought the g-20 club set and the goast spider putter all to get my meter speed the same that helps a ton...

next i made a chart with all clubs and max dist and have them charted all for varied meter % now it works good to 70% i found i thread in here that tells how it breaks down now i cant find it try to stay above 70% with all but putters and wedges. im curantly working on getting it exact.
