After reading the thread, this is my opinion.
First when you start a game, the timer is set to a certain time and you should not complain if your opponents take all of their time, it is their right just as it is your right. Just because you want to play fast or not chat doesn't mean that they have too, I like to play fast as well but not everyone does.
Some people chat, kid with you, razz you for bad shots, etc. I have been in a few games where one or more players, usually the one losing, goes from good natured kidding to ranting so you just never know.
