Another way to stop Maxthon updating is to disable the scheduled running of the MxUp file.
It is not necessary to both rename (see previous post) and disable the scheduled running of the MxUp file. Doing either one will suffice.
Although this video shows how to stop Chrome from updating, the procedure for Maxthon is the same. You just have to look for the Maxthon task in the scheduler.
1 Locate the Maxthon task in the scheduler main panel.
2 Right click on it and select Disable from the context menu.
3 This shows the program that the scheduled task is set to run. If you click on the image to view it full size, you will see that it is the MxUp.exe file.
