Can we have some more randomness please instead of the 30mph full in the face head winds 95% of the time.

It's making that classic course as boring as hell....and somewhere I used to play a lot, now I'll play once or twice a week, else I'd be bored stiff.

Like *Yawn* not another 30mph full on head wind. Chuck in one or two 25-30 mph tail winds.

I find truly amazing how the the wind changes direction so that it always a headwind at every hole. I glad it isn't rain!

    Absolutely.

The reason I started playing on here was because I will be playing St Andrews later on this year and I thought learning the course beforehand would make it more enjoyable when I play it for real. The long distance hole for diamond award was hole 6 for me. I haven't gotten close to 400 yards on any other course or hole. 3 times I got over 400yards on hole 6 but it didn't register because it went bouncing over the green and into the rough behind the green. I eased off with the loading but still I couldn't get it to stop where the distance would register as diamond. I wonder what hole on what course this diamond distance can be achieved?

Like you say TBE it would be nice to be able to play ST. A in a reasonable wind and having played the course 1500 times plus I am starting to have my doubts about whether to go to Scotland or not.

I am not interested in practice rounds to have easy settings as the balls still wear out or get lost just as easy as in registered rounds.

For what it's worth, I played St Andrews around 3 months ago and there was very little to no wind....and for the curious, I finished 3 over par.

Don't let the directionally stuck heavy winds on here put you off playing at the home of golf.

    Cheers TBE

Thank you for for your reply in playing the home of golf. If the wind is the same as it is on here I reckon I will need an extra bag for the balls I will need to play the complete course.

Played a match on SG last night back 9 and had headwind for the first 7 holes, go figure. They must run in the same direction, no. The old Links game had a compass on the wind meter and  that is something I would like to see implemented here.
