I also bought 2 sleeves of the Titleist L93 after using one sleeve, not for me..shots has the tendency to go wild, just on a slight mishit. I’m glad I be able to work with the L42, little cheaper.

    YankeeJim:

It depends on how close of attention you pay to the difference. I played the 81 TMs for a month. Same specs as the Nike I used to use. Nothing scientific, just a lot of AS and regular play-CC tournaments and WGT stuff. Not being a note-taker, it takes a while to get a feel for the ball.

I switched to the 40 Titleists a few days ago and in a nutshell, after just 1 sleeve,  not only am I astounded at the difference, I got the Nikes back I used to play. The difference is primarily in the 3, 4 and 5 irons. They carry as I would expect them and react on landing like I'm used to. They appear to be a bit more forgiving on mishits as I got favorable results on a few hacks.

This little exercise pretty much confirms what I suspected-the TMs are downgraded Nikes and the Titleists are the new Nikes. A whole bunch more expensive, too. The new quandry is adjust or step up to the pump.  :-(

I don’t ever think I’ll be good enough to notice differences like that. Like I’ve always said, people just need to find what works for them at a price they like.

Robert is right. Best is to play the stuff one knows inside out. After I was tired of playing par rounds with those strange Taylormades I returned to my cheap Callaways now. First round was a 56 on Kiawa with a - 10 on the front 9. Regular round, not any red tea Kindergarten settings. Seems that was more than only a sign. It was like Odin visits me at the breakfast table to tell me his master plan. Will not win a lot of prices with them, but who cares? Me not. And if from time to time I will be able to beat one of the big dogs here or there the fun for me with that will be double  ;o)
