    Hi guys and girls

have upgraded to the burners after using raptures for long time .At first i though i made a mistake because of the fast meter ,but now that im getting used to it i am hitting shots that u just cant do with the raptures.

adding and subtracting yardage for tail and headwinds are however completely different than with the raptures because of the higher ballflight.

I more or less figured out how much to add for headwind. For me it ranges from between 71 percent of the windspeed too 100 % on certain holes.Tailwind is a bit more difficult.

so if headwind is 20 ill add 20 yard or 71% wich is 14 yrd.

if anyone is willing too share their knowledge on this it will be appreciated

    tx

When I first got them I played great, could zero in on approaches no bother.  After a while though I found I was landing short a lot, I wasn't aware of doing anything different but when I played a shot with b/s what I thought was 10 yards less than full strength it often came up 30 or so short.

I've since tried playing with less b/s, they generate so much with Callaway S that you probably don't need full very often anyway.  Just a tiny bit of b/s sees them hitting much more predictable distances.

I know this is a bit off topic from your original post but it's a similar subject and will hopefully be of help to someone.

the question can be better answered knowing what type of ball one is using in combination with the burners...makes a significant  difference...H

I use the same club/ball combo you do, Estienne.

Break your clubs down in thirds, or so. The PW, 9i and 8i handle spin much differently than the 7i, 6i, 5i. The 4i and the 3i do their own thing too. Full backspin on a PW (125) into a headwind maxes out around 116  yards or so, sometimes less. That same wedge with top spin and a tailwind will fly a lot longer than 125. The strength of the wind has everything to do with it and for that reason the best thing you can do to start is learn the clubs without the spin.

Use the spin to control your yardage, keeping in mind the effect on the landing. Just know going into wind, back spin stands the shot up and shortens it. How much it stands it up depends on how much loft is in the club and how strong the wind is. . Hence, breaking your set down in thirds.

A high ding rate is essential to success with these irons. The price of their accuracy is the penalty, or deviation, for missing. They forgive halfway decently but the distance suffers a lot when you miss and not always in a negative fashion.  Spin exaggerates this, particularly backspin.

Give  yourself 20-30 rounds with them without killing yourself trying to understand them. You will develop a sense for them and it will help you a lot when you start adding spin into the equation. CTTH rounds are a good place to learn, where you can restart and play the same shots over and over. They are fun clubs to learn and when you ding them the results are tremendous.  GL
