What should you hit to get out of the weeds at RSG?

    1st, your caddy

    2nd, the bottle

and if all else fails, a wedge to the very nearest part of the fairway, you can more or less forget about an approach attempt, you're now engaged in damage limitation exercises. Most of the time I would use the short or medium wedge with the highest loft and backspin to help lift it free of the vegetation. Might also be worth your while having a mooch around in there for some of the rarer examples of indigenous butterflies but remember to take a pin so you can at least vent immediately, and have a splendid trophy afterwards.

What I do on RSG with high wind, to have more fairways is: I miss every ding against the wind with my driver with full backspin. That will give you straight shots. The full BS will give you more loft so the ball will be in the air most of the time and you will be have less roll on those volcanoe like fairways. Also in some holes you will be able to pass over those bunkers.

For example with 30mph side wind (3:00) I hit the first line left of the center. straigth shot an my 275yrd R9 lands at 275-285yrds and roll  5-10 yrds; instead of landing 265-270 yrd and roll 15-30yrds with no backspin. may be you will not have a big drive disttance but you will have a safe shot. better 170yr to pin from fairway than 150 from rough.... but is just my opinion.

Also if you are in weeds, roug or frescue and you have a big piece of fairway in front up to the pin and the fairway is close from your shot location; you can try a big punch, with the practice you will be able to reach the green or close to save a par.
