Use the mouse wheel to change clubs instead of rolling your mouse over them.  I change clubs that way, sometimes there is a lag between clubs, but it always lists and shows the correct club.

So if using your mouse to point and select a club and it causes promblems, do something different.

    andyson:

I've seen it where a 6I is selected yet the graphic says 7I, I think that's what your saying birdwell.  I agree.

Here's an article from Adobe on Flash "Runtime code execution fundamentals" which I'll attempt to condense:

The Flash program running on our computers does essentially 2 types of work, code execution and rendering(drawing to the screen).

In order to maintain a smooth animation Flash must draw to the screen as often as the specified frame rate demands.  At a frame rate of 50 frames per second (FPS), it must perform both the code execution and rendering tasks every 1/50 th of a second.

Flash begins its block of time (1/50 th of a second) by doing code execution usually triggered by user events (mouse clicks, mouseovers, etc.) or server events (messages from the server like shot results or friends list updates) once all the events are processed it begins the rendering part of its work.

If the time to complete both code execution and rendering work takes longer than 1/50th of a second, Flash isn't able to maintain the 50 frames per second frame rate.  "The frame expands, taking longer than its allotted time, so there is a delay before the next frame is triggered."  Its not able to update the screen at 50 FPS.

"When the frame rate slows, the experience degrades.  At best animation becomes choppy.  In worse cases, the application freezes and the window goes blank."

I'm thinking the club selection GUI can generate a lot of code execution time as the clubs are so close together and the mouse can move over them so fast (generating lots of mouseover events) perhaps a graphic change gets missed.  This could be exasperated by a server event occurring (i.e. friends list update)

The way Flash runs all code execution first before rendering could also explain how the friends list affects the meter.  (Flash is busy processing a friends list update and overruns its allocated block of time and the meter animation doesn't get updated.  That's a stutter.)

Andyson, you should be employed by WGT, because you give a proper answer (when possible) for most posts we write.  Thanks, as always

    birdwell:

I'll try to take a screenie, but this has happened to me twice today. Hopefully remember to capture it the 3rd time.

I'm in the fairway, 3i in hand into some nasty headwind on RSG with about 200 yards to the pin.

I need my trusty R9 3W for this shot. I select it, My avatar is shown correctly with it in my hand, but since I've moused over the putter as I moused back down, The graphic on the left shows the putter in stead of the club I actually have in hand

This is an extreme example, and I have just swung at it even though it says putter, and smashed for 240 yards no problem.

When this mouse-over 'sticking' happens with an iron, it is VERY easy to miss and can cause some really bad shots as the graphic for the clubs are the same.

I first noticed this when I came back after that long hiatus - This glitch wasn't there a year ago.  But has been here at least since the U.S Open or thereabouts. I think it was my first came back that I experienced this, and maybe I'm hyper sensitive to it because of that and I always ALWAYS double check what I have selected.

You say that was an extreme example........how's this for one:

27 yards from pin on St Andrews 18th, i change from pitch shot to full swing, i'm now with my 125 pw in hand, i scroll down to my 60 yard wedge, scrolling too quickly, i zoom past putter and land on my driver.  I then scroll back to my wedge.  MAKE SURE ITS IN MY HAND, take the swing & shot, then when camera angle changes for the shot sequence, the shot is hit with my DRIVER!!!, and you guessed what happened next, lost ball, lost stroke..lost CHALLENGE MATCH for 333 credits!!!  So all in all i was screwed 433 for this BUG!.

Here's screenshot for Icon showing wrong club graphic displayed.  I didn't touch the club selection GUI until I moused over the graphic to take this shot.

Thats what's happening, i cant remember it happening with other clubs, but it happens quite a bit with the burners. Imagine your in 9 iron range, but you dont notice the 3i still selected, you take your shot so its going to be a  Lost ball, ruined round (thats what happened to me lol)
