Just a quick word about the subject.I have seen controversy occur because of the lack thereof.Conceding the opponents putt is a privilege not a right. Though giving up an obvious short putt  is sportsman like ,it is not required by law!  lol  If you don't get a concession, buck up and tap it in!

I say just do away with it then there is no argument of what should be and what shouldn't be conceded

I don't agree there because conceding doesn't go against the rules.. I think it's a nice option to have but everyone needs to just get use to it that it's not a rule to actually do it just because the option is there.

    +3 ?

Who concedes BP 15, STA 2? and those 2  just quickly come to mind. If its agreed at the first hole..... 2ft, 1ft, ....10ft......... lol...... then ok. It just needs agreeing and if someone says no concedes, no big deal.

BP15 gives me nightmares!!  I would be hard pressed to concede anything there over a ft :)

Conceding is simply up to the opponent,  enough said.    Never expect to have a putt conceded,  but be thankful when they are.

In Alt and Match Play against friends 3ft or less is usually agreed in games I play in.

    Just stipulate at start.

Hear hear! There are more than a handful of concedes I've received of 2-3 footers at Oak, or even BPB #15, where I thought 'thank God!' because I could've (and often have) choked.

Matchplay requires different strategy along with different tactics...and conceding putts is all part of the game.  Since we play one on one, it's really all about getting into your opponents head...and the objective is to win.

The one thing I'd like to see here is the Option to putt out or practice conceded putt.  Besides giving us a chance to practice, it can show our opponent that we would have made the putt anyway (getting into his head)...it won't seem like they did us a favor that needs reciprocation.  Just make sure you make it (smile)

But in a friendly match, concede everything inside 10 feet (wink)
