Pryke:
I was wondering if anyone has any driving tips from Legend tee's against heavy/moderate headwinds. Just want to take any advantage I can into a round.
Thanks in advance
P
Assuming you are purely interested in distance (not clearing obstacles or avoiding sidewind), it is usually best to just apply bs/loft (not on StA, which has a totally different behaviour).
However what is more important is choosing a spot to land, especially for a course like RSG, which has heavy winds regularly, and very weird fairways. Apply an amount of loft/bs/ts to land the ball in downslopes and thereby gaining 10-20-30y extra on the drive. For example if you know you will carry 270y in 20 mph headwind and there is a big slope at 260, then apply less spin (or none/ts) to get the ball to land on the backside of the slope.
For the pure theoretical situation with a totally flat fairway, I doubt there would be much difference in distance between the different amount of spins. Definately not like real golf where high drives are severly penalized.
(Everything above is my personal view on it, I am sure many will have a different opinion :P)
