Would like a little input re the Cleveland 64% - 60 yard wedge.

I have been trying to get the ball to back up on the green and except for chipping and pitching (it checks the ball beautifully)  I can't get the ball to spin back.  I've tried full backspin, partial backspin and nothing happens.  Is this the norm for this club,   I use Callaway Tour i(z) .  Works really great for the other shots but full shots onto the green I can't get any backspin whatsoever.. Thanks

Is that the legend z ball?   I will load one up and go see if I can get a decent replay for spin

EDIT**** sry but the replays were deleted....

Here are some interesting replays.  all on Kia #1 .....using the 60yd cleveland wedge with full back spin,,,swung full power

    Legend z ball   replay.aspx?ID=b0c9e888 2438 4c66 97a7 9f9601263522

    Legend s ball  replay.aspx?ID=d7c0bbc3 2b03 44f4 aeea 9f960126e073

    Regular z ball  replay.aspx?ID=1479f995 d851 4c8a bcfe 9f960127dbd3

    Regular s ball  replay.aspx?ID=a90d41fb a810 4570 b990 9f96012879a4

    Srixon spin ball  replay.aspx?ID=56b2e1bf 0d64 4b7d b460 9f9601293f61

Strange....sometimes they zip back and other times it starts to but the screen seems to load up next view too early.

Of course it never does it the way you want it to......go long for the spin back and it stops........land hole high expecting it to stop and it zips back....grrrrrrrr

I did the same thing at SA. The fist pic is 1/2 bs. The 2nd is full bs. Both shots dinged. This is with the Callaway (s) ball off the CG64.

This is the same shot on one hole. Again, 1/2 bs in the first pic and full in the second.

Tks for the input HP and Jim,

I am using the level 45 legend Tour (i)z,   I have deliberately on occasion gone long on the green with my CG64 and been burned when it just stopped or even rolled forward when I had full back spin on.  I guess I will just have to stop fooling with it 'cause it has cost me a few strokes.

I think we're all used to expecting rollout from a shot and tend to use that spin to stop it. The CG64 doesn't need spin to stop and has virtually no rollout unless you put top spin on it or are landing downhill.  For this reason I find that choking that wedge with no spin gets much better results. Missing the ding with spin is much worse than missing the ding with no spin and you really don't need spin to stop it anyway.

I have this wedge and use the tour (s) ball. what i have found is that back spin depends on how much power you use, 100% with full back spin will back it up 4 to 6 yds depending on the green. And using 50% with full back spin will back it up from 1 to 4 yds. the fairway your on and your lie also change it. if i'm in 1st cut 20% to 30% rough it will back up a yard or two at 100% power, full back spin, while the same lie at 50% power will cause the ball to stop dead on the green.  In 2nd cut rough, It gives no back spin at all and in fact the ball will forward. Good luck and I hope your figure it out.
