I notice that there is a putting assistant called Putter Pal. I was wondering for those who have it, is it worth buying? In some games I have found that assistants like these may hinder, rather than help the player  with their putting. So for those who have it, do you like it?

    Thanks in advance,,,

    Nightowl,

If I were you I would buy the shortest putter pal they have to see if you like it.  I made the mistake of purchasing the big one, hated it, and was stuck with it for an eternity.  At least now they have the option to turn the display off.

It is one of those things that you buy and after a bit you start to wish you didn't have it.  As Jake says buy the lowest one you can to test drive it before you buy a big one.  For those of us who play a lot with the same putter I don't think it means much.

I made mine on a similar method that Suzy made her , and I could not leave without it. Since it is always there, I use it to choke from wedge to putter.

Good advice already given here. Personally, I like it. It gives me a little more precision on distance control when the desired distance is between avatar movements. I follow my putting stats pretty closely, and while I have also changed putters, I believe Putter Pal is the biggest factor in the small improvement in my stats since I started using it. My 1-putt percentage has gone from about 46.8% to about 47% and my 3-putt % has gone from about 4% to about 3.9%. That's a small difference, but I'm not a great putter to begin with so I'll take anything I can get.

That said, there is apparently nothing on God's green earth that will help me get the read and speed right on 4-footers at Oakmont. :)

I am finding on a consistant basis, reading the greens is the hardest part of the game. I can judge distance pretty well but reading those breaks and elevation is very tough indeed. One hole I can blow way left of the hole and what seems to be the exact same break/elevation on the next hole I break right. Finding that middle ground where I can make birdie or even par on a regular basis is difficult at best
