I'm a relative newby and am thinking about upgrading equipment and didn't understand the difference between the forgiveness rating and the meter speed.  If you have a high forgiveness rating, is that more important than having a slower meter speed (assuming that its easier to hit the "ding" with a slower meter speed).

Thanks for helping with what I"m sure is a very basic question.

A slower meter will probably allow you to hit the ding more often, high forgiveness will mean you don't get punished so badly for a missed ding.

My advice would be go for forgiveness over slow meter, when you reach a higher tier you'll end up needing high loft clubs which will have a quick meter so best to get used to it early on.

There are clubs that offer both though, slow meter and high forgiveness.  Take a look at the Ping Raptures, absolutely brilliant clubs until you start to need more stopping power on the greens.  Only another 6 levels and you can get the top set, they'll keep you happy for a long time.

Thanks, MM.  That's just the explanation/advice I needed!
