If you zoom in by clicking the mini-map like Paul said (or just click on the camera icon), you can click and hold your mouse on the aimer box to see the approach grid. On some shots, doing that will show dots moving so you can check the contours. Other times it will not. I think it might depend on how far you are from the hole.
If the dots aren't showing up, just switch your shot type to Pitch or Chip, and you should then be able to see the dots.

Hope this helps. If you use this method, don't forget to switch back to FULL before you hit your approach shot!
