I'm not a fan of the value on my page that shows my career earnings - as these could actually be Career 'debits'

This value should be accompanied by 'Tournament entry fee's' so we could actually see what we have spent entering tournaments and we could then get an accurate representation of our actual winnings rather than 'earnings'

Example - Player enters 2k RG wins 1k

    Career earning would show 1K

Tournament entry fee would show 2K

    Player is actually down 1K

Career earnings is the correct term for the value displayed, career profit/loss is an entirely different matter, as you point out.

I have a lot of earnings and I'm above a load of players who are way better than me. I am in the fortunate position that I can play more than most of them.

I am the equivalent of the donkeys on Blackpool beach, I grind away to make up the earnings.

The very best players are like a real estate salesman/woman who does 5 hours a week but always comes in with the big money sale. These players are the ones with the high profits per tournament entered.

If people are looking at career earnings as a means of seeing which players are the best, it certainly is a way of doing so. However it most definitely doesn't tell the full story and there are some anomalies in the table.

Yes, because i play maybe 2 or 3, 18 hole ready go's a day, those count towards my career earnings, but i play matchplay most of the time, so the career earnings wont show what ever i have won in matchplay, but i can assure you i have more credits in the bank from matchplay than ready go's (thats how i build up my stash quicker.lol)
