Re: Can't access WGT Launcher

  Been using WGT successfully for a few years, but created a new profile because launcher won't launch...

  This is the error message I see

   

  Have deleted and reinstalled and granted full access to files through properties.

  Anyone have any ideas?

  And why did you have to create a NEW ACCOUNT because the launcher didn't work?

  And what do you mean when you say you granted full access to files through properties?

  Try a reset

  Never thought about him being a bot.  Bots don't normally write like that, seemed human to me.  But we'll never know for sure.

  Try doing ScottHope's "Reset" (see above).  Then launch WGT and log in using your main account (the one you've been using for years).  That will probably solve your problem.

  Once you're able to log in and play using your main account, you should contact WGT and have them delete your new account (TheTopBanana).  WGT frowns on people having multiple accounts.

  I'm pretty sure he means that he right-clicked the WGT files (i.e. launcher.exe and/or golf.exe), selected Properties, then went to the Security tab and set the Permissions to Full Control.

  I just tried using  Scott's "reset"
  My "smart" computer blocked it because it was a .reg file--
  I selected "run it anyway"  and it was still blocked.  Here's My problem:

  wgt won't let me play.  First it said I needed a launcher update.  So I deleted the old launcher and downloaded a fresh one from wgt. 

  NOW it gets to the third (3x5 postcard sized) screen, and says, "The Launcher needs to restart to apply updates"  If I hit the "restart" button, I get  a second similar box that says  "retry"   When I click THAT, I get a third  box with two lines --

  "An error accured while patching the Launcher"  and

  "... waiting for the self patcher to complete the update..."

  That third screen just sits there forever, and nothing further happens.

  I am in over my head....  any specific remedies out there??

  Help !   Yes  I have rebooted my computer -- several times.

  Have a look at what Spiders1 discovered, the Smart App Control. It might be blocking the update.
