  If I shoot 5 under in 1st. nine holes why do I not start the next nine holes at 5 under? It's basically an 18 hole tournament, in "real" golf players carry on to the second 9 holes from the position they were in after the 1st nine !

  It's really 3 9 hole tournaments...different holes from different courses.

  I concur with John on this one. Say you have two really good rounds, then fall off in the third, you end up with prizes that don't really merit the efforts of the first two rounds.

  Or you could basically just make the cut twice, then wind up with one great round and walk off with the best prizes.

  If you only shoot 5 under for the first 9 holes you should be thanking your lucky stars you even made it to the 2nd round, you must've gotten a lucky draw with the grouping you were in.

  It's not basically an 18 hole tournament as you seem to think.  A Showdown is 3 completely separate rounds that have nothing to do with each other.  Think of it as bracket type event.  In a bracket tournament the score you shoot in round 1 has no bearing on the results of round 2 and so on.

  I think this is a stellar idea!

  I Played one SD where I won round one, did quite well in round 2, then lost 2 balls in the water in round 3 (because the wind reading was way off, but that’s a story for another day).

  Despite winning round 1, and doing well in round 2. I ended that SD in 94th because of 2 bad shots. Essentially, those 2 shots were the ones that decided the whole event. It completely put me off SD’s, to be honest.

  Despite winning round 1,

  You might think you won round 1 but you didnt win anything, you placed first which enabled you to go on to the second round. When you win something you normally get some kind of prize. JMO
