I was playing in a paid tournament and I was having a great round (-5 through 12) and I encountered the last "hit" on my extra slow meter ball. Obviously this was poor planning but it happened. I was thrown immediately into the starter ball and the meter speed went from zero to 100. I know that you have the choice to buy more of the same ball when this happens - but why cant you change your ball to something else in your inventory mid round ? I had several Pro V1s in my bag and I cant figure out a way to switch them in. Is your only choice to finish the round with that starter ball or buy the same ball you had been using ? I finished at -2 - had one blow up hole, its a significant change.

Yes, those are your only two choices.

I totally get where you're coming from. I’ve had similar moments when I was on a great run, and then the ball switch throws everything off. I really wish we could switch to something else in the bag mid-round. I was playing a round last week, had some Pro V1s in my inventory, but once you’re forced into that starter ball, you’re pretty much stuck unless you buy more of the same. It feels like a missed opportunity, especially when you're in the middle of a good round. Hopefully, they’ll tweak it in the future to give players a bit more control.

    Once more:

The bag is closed during play, as of the "do not change clubs" rule of golf. Here, it includes the ball pocket - simple programming.

Think of you inventory to be in your garage - inaccessible during play.

Follow the indication of "last ball" and buy a new sleeve in time. Caveat: It doesn't work if your balls are no longer accessible in the Pro Shop.

If a player doesn't care for the balls, the round must be less important - he should simply quit.

Almost every real tournament uses the one ball rule except theirs is probably a little more strict. If you run out of the ball you are playing in a real tournament and are not in or near the pro shop you can not buy more balls and there is no starter ball you can go to so you must quit.

I bet this fella has no CAA membership, no roadside assistance plan, and no spare tire in his car.
