I think they bumped up the credit prizes for the free tournys, so that should help.
But they changed the monthly tourny which was free into a credit one, so that doesn't help people looking to get enough credits to enter the pay tournys.
I recall hearing there is a way to get free credits by sending in a postcard (or something to that effect) to WGT. I don't remember how, so maybe someone will post with that information to help you out.
edit: You have to check the tournament details/rules for the details on how to enter a pay tourny for free.
