Call me profligate, but irresistibly, like many others, obsessed with getting the so-called best equipment available, I have spent an inordinate amount of money purchasing upgrades, like the i15 clubs, the super R9 driver and Burner 2.0 irons, the top R11 driver and wood, the top R11 irons, the top Cleveland wedges, the Ghost putter, the top Spider Ghost putter, the Calloway z balls, the new top Nike balls, name it, I've bought and played them all. Surely, all these upgrades had considerable merit, and suited a good number of very capable players, despite the meter speed inconsistencies that are integral to all the "best" equipment combinations. But in the end, while in truth I did fare rather well with all the clubs and balls I acquired along the upward way, I returned to my first love, for meter speed consistency and manageability: the 275y R9 driver and 222y Burner hybrid, the top G10 irons, the Z Satin wedges (98y, 77y, and 50y respectively), and the Daytona putter, combined with the top Nike balls, which are a great addition.
I do dream, however, of top G20 clubs with the exact same meter speed as the top G10 clubs, but with more distance, precision, and forgiveness -- somewhere between the top G10's and the Super 9 driver and Burner 2.0 irons, though pricier than the i15's and available at a higher level. That way, the Super 9 driver and Burner 2.0 irons, like the R11 combo, would remain an appealing option for all the players who can handle them consistently well (see for example Suncity28 -- truly outstanding).
