A hybrid is sort of a mix of wood and iron.  It has a smaller head than a wood and the loft of an iron.

It won't hit as far as a 3 wood but is very good out of rough.  Once you have the R11 irons it really doesn't make much sense to carry one as the 3 iron hits the ball the same distance.  The hybrid is still better from rough but you are unlikely to use one very often.  A 3rd wedge makes more sense.

Actually a wood is what you want to carry in your bag, A hybrid is what you what you want to exchange for a 3rd wedge   IMO

Yeah i know that, and since we cant trade irons 1 to 3 it been a realy dificult choice,i dont like woods extra range often for greens i prefer a good roll with an hybrid, but i do needed extra range since i lil while. ended with R11 3Wood,with hes hi angle i feel 'also' like it was a 21*angle hybrid-like wood. so thanks alots buddys.
