I don't know if you've all noticed but I noticed something that costs me about a stroke per 9. Basically, I like to hit early or late of the ding to go into the wind and I measure how much to do it by based on wind speed and I also aim in accordance to accommodate that. I'm sure many of you do that.

However, what I've noticed is that every now and then, when I hit it just as I've hit it many times previously, the shot goes way off in that direction. It's like it randomly will let you hit one way and it seems perfect, while on that occasional shot, despite a strong wind that should blow it right where you want it, starts the shot WAY OFF in that direction. Does that make sense?

For example, I'll be hitting early on certain holes off the tee because the wind is blowing left to right. My reasoning is that starting it left will take it into the wind and the wind will blow it back towards where I've aimed. Most all holes will be fine. Then on some random hole, instead of the shot starting barely off to the right and blowing back to center, it will start off WAY to the left and never come back enough and go into the rough in a bad spot. And this after not hitting it WAY early, but just as I'd been hitting it previously. It does it to the right as well.

It's as if it randomizes some holes where if you hit it either early or late, it'll be great, but if you hit it the opposite way, it'll be way off, even if there's no wind or minimal wind to mess with it.

Just something that frustrates me. Sometimes it's 2 holes per 9. I just don't get it. I know the angles on the holes are off because there's only so many photos they took so sometimes there'll be a weird angle, but I'm aiming in reference to zooming up to the arrow and moving it where it should be. Like I said, all the other shots were fine using this technique. Maybe you guys have experienced something similar. Maybe you just have to look at the actual avatar or something about the angle the picture looks like.

Seems rather technical, but I just don't know what else to do.

All bets are off when you play to miss ding. I know it is something a lot of players do, but without much practice, the ball will have a tendency to fly off the target line in a more exaggerated line. The ball will also lose distance when playing off-ding, and on putts too. Using the aiming cursor and hitting ding as I'm sure you know will give you the best results on a given shot.

    Ding is king!

Trust me when I say this. I would LOVE to hit the ding and just aim. In every other golf game, you basically aim and then use the distance. There's not as much to missing the ding unless you want to curve the ball left or right. WGT doesn't offer those abilities to fade, slice, draw, or hook.

Initially I had asked if there was a trick in hitting the ding but everyone kept saying that they just missed on one side of the other. Frustrated, I continued trying to hit the ding. I'm sure you guessed how that worked. Even with the slowest club meter speeds, it's impossible to hit the ding even 20% of the time when you are legitimately trying, unless you have the hand eye coordination of a 22 year old jet fighter pilot.

With that being said, I tried and tried to my detriment. I found that is was easier to aim a certain way to compensate and hit either early or late of the ding line depending on where you want the ball to go. You may be able to hit that ding most every time or maybe a pixel off, but I'm pretty sure most of the people on there would be hard pressed to hit it much of the time.

I have always played for the ding. Lately it seems to be more picky than ever. I move my arrow to where I want the ball to hit. If I miss the ding by the slightest, the ball has a mind of it's own. Used to be a little forgiving, not anymore. Same goes with my putting, that has really gone south. My green speeds are rated as TM Tournament speed, but they vary greatly from hole to hole on the same course. I thought it was just me, but after consecutive rounds on the same course, it is very obvious there is no rhyme or reason. Just have to take the good with the bad.
