Pro = average 80 with at least 10 ranked rounds played as Amateur

Tour pro = average 72 with at least 20 ranked rounds played as Pro

Master = average 67 with at least 25 ranked games played as Tour pro

Tour Master = average 63 with at least 40 ranked games played as Master

Legends = average 61 with at least 50 ranked games played as Tour Master

Awwwww YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!!! . . . Just a couple more strokes off here and there and I'll move up. As to the top 2, 2 strokes seems to be a lot at that point and 61 just seems ridiculous to get to. Not even real pros are constantly shooting that well, but then again, it's the top 40 rounds or whatever. It just seems ridiculous to shoot something like 59. To get an almost perfect round every time. Holes in one and eagles on every hole is just asinine. But to get 12 or so birdies and only 6 pars is phenomenal and super hard unless you know every facet of this game, plus pay for the best clubs AND balls for every round.

It's apparent that to play with the best clubs, you'll need the best balls to slow the meter down. WGT sure knows how to maximize profits. And those balls are not cheap to play with all the time. Oh well, my aim is to get to master with just the standard balls. Tough task I know, but I'm up for it. If I can average below a 67 with standard balls and clubs, then what could I do with the top gear? eh? eh?

That's the attitude. Well, the last half of what you said is anyway.

I still use starter balls most of the time and I'm a 63-average TM. All my best scores have come with the starter ball - a 59, three 29s and a 28. Mid-range clubs, too. R11 driver and wood, granted, but I use the Satin wedges (buy these as soon as possible if you haven't already, best value clubs in the game and 750 credits for all three) and G10 irons which are no longer available.

Anyway, shooting below 60 seems ludicrous at this moment in time to you, as it did to me when I first started, but keep playing, improving and learning and you'll be there in no time, trust me :).

Thanks for the personal story. It lends to motivation. However, I have one issue. I have the Satin wedges, as far as two of them at this point, but I plan to get the other two. However, the problem I have, is that the meter speed is way too fast for me. I always have to aim way left because when I stop it, it's almost all the way to the far right end of the first blue box after the ding line. While it's not bad, I can't be anywhere close to accurate with them and don't particularly enjoy using them for that reason. Anything faster than the starter speed gives me issue and I'm not always close on those also.

Like I stated in another post, I'm not old, only being 33. My reaction time I would say is average, but to hit the ding most of the time, especially with the faster meter speeds requires the reactions of a 22 year old jet fighter pilot. I don't see how I can use the fast meter speed with ALL of my clubs and shoot well without advanced FEEL golf balls. Oh well, I'll do what I can. It's depressing actually not to be able to be able to play well with the fast meter speeds. What do you guys do that are older than me do with fast meter speeds other than buy expensive balls? One second from start of the meter until you click is not very long and to me is impossible to stop anywhere close to where I need it. In that way, I won't know exactly where to aim, because the place I stop will be all over the place.

Happy to help :). I'm not older and I'd say I have pretty decent reactions but I still struggle with the meter of the Satins and their equivalents. Best advice I can give is to practice as you're going to have to move up the meter speed at some time. Of course, switching speeds from the Satins to the starters is quite a big jump and could explain some of the late-clicking. Before every shot with the Satins try letting the meter run through once or twice so your eyes get used to the new speed. If none of that works, you can get some decent feel balls for 60 credits here but I would try and avoid them until all your clubs have got a quick meter.

It's completely possible. I reached legend tier with starter balls and (mostly) with rapture irons (I used G10 irons at some point).

I reached Master tier with nothing but starter's equipment, but that was a couple years ago when WGT just changed everything overnight. I went from Amateur to Master *poof* just like that.

I played with the starter clubs until three or four months ago. I would get p!ssed off and quit every once in a while because I felt it was unfair to put me in a position where I couldn't even reach the fairway, but eventually, I always came back.

Then I bought a full set of clubs, a good putter, and some callaways.

I went from shooting 37s and 38s to shooting 31s and 32s within a week. I breezed through Tour Master and reached Legend at level 69.

I give the credit for my rapid rise, (too rapid as far as I'm concerned), to playing with starter clubs for years.

It taught me course management because that's the only way I could be competitive against guys who were outdriving me by (sometimes) 100 yards.

Now I know every nook and cranny of the courses and I have the clubs to make the ball do what I want, while most people are still in the "Just let the big dog eat" mentality.

What I hated most about this game has turned out to be the best training I could have had.

I definitely see and agree on it making you a better player all around and that's one reason I'm doing it; keeping the starter clubs. However, what did you do about the huge increase in meter speed? How did you handle that?

I know I'll sort of get used to the faster speed as I did with the original clubs, but I just don't see how I can fully get used to that turbo speed of the satin wedges on ever club. I've dinged them twice by accident out of tens, if not over 100 uses. Usually, I miss and almost hit the line after the ding line. I couldn't imagine having to try to compensate that with aiming way right with the wind blowing left to right also. The only other solution is the 64 credit WGT balls that have feel to lower the meter speed to a manageable speed.
