Surveys and videos. Be patient and keep hitting the surveys. Ampario and Samplicious pay off the best in my experience. I've managed to collect some fairly nice equipment without spending a dime of real cash in my relatively brief time here.
p.s. As far as the videos, be sure to collect 50 views before redeeming...that way you get the best bang for buck...75 creds.

Pay close attention to small details. When, Where, Why, How... not who.
I've never deposited a single credit on this game... and i've went through about $300 in wgt credits thus far. With some to spare. ;)
