If you take the distance +/- a third of the height/decline and take into account the wind / lay you should be there or there abouts. Its all about practice and experimenting on holes with those attributes in different lays and wind conditions. Every course and shot differs. You also have to figure in where your ball is going to land on the green and what the ball may do on landing. You have green speeds and slopes on the green to consider as well. Its all about course knowledge!!!!!!! Whether you use bs or ts or no spin at all etc....

Hope this gives you some idea.

If you add 1 yard for every 3 feet up in elevation you will be close, and that has no wind in the equation  Hope that helps

Take your yardage, and add or subtract the number of yards uphill or downhill that it is.

    150 + 6.67 yards (20 feet uphill) = 156.67 yards.

    150 - 6.67 yards (20 feet downhill) = 143.33 yards.

    TheLighterDark:

    150 + 6.67 yards (20 feet uphill) = 156.67 yards.

    150 - 6.67 yards (20 feet downhill) = 143.33 yards.

I have figured it to be seven yards as well, up or down. Add 1 yard up with full back-spin applied. Especially with the Nike balls.

To the OP, play some practice rounds at Bethpage & Oakmont and experiment with the above yardages.
