I am new to the game and aquired some credits and am in need of some advice. I read a few other threads and am curious about club setup and which clubs to get early. I recently purchased the TM ZSatin 54 and 60 wedges. A. was this a mistake ? B. Do I still need my Sand wedge ? (should I have just gotten one of them instead of both?)

Also I have another 450 credits for to spend and was thinking of waiting til lvl 19 and grabbing the http://www.wgt.com/proshop/product.aspx?i=a2e3775d-d6f4-4b58-a50a-412fa1a0c1b5&name=Spider_Putter_L19&c=Putters. A. Is this a mistake ? B. Should I be getting other clubs ?

As far as Irons, Driver, and Fairway Wood I have the WGT Starter Plus Series.

I feel as if at my low level and still learning these clubs will be the most beneficial for my cash. I appreciate any and all feedback.

Also, fast or slow meters better and why ? I see some people calling meters too fast and other saying they're too slow. I imagine its all preference but is a there a logic such as there are more clubs that are faster let's say so it may be better to learn with faster meters ?

The starter putter is actually pretty good compared to what you can 'buy' at your level. If you want to lower your scores, buy the G10 driver available to you  - closer to the green means more birdies (and fewer bogies at your level). As a newer player, I suggest you build up your tolerance to meter speeds slowly, which is basically how the level up to buy equipment works largely. The other MAJOR difference in the game comes when you can purchase better balls - next step for you would be Srixon balls - all premium balls go farther, stop faster, and the more 'feel' they have, the more they slow down your meter (very helpful as you purchase the faster meter equipment).

So - get the driver, try the premium balls - and when you can upgrade all your starter equipment as you can afford and that is available to you. Your wedge purchases were excellent, btw, will help a great deal around the greens as well as shorter approach shots Learn how to use them to chip, pitch and flop - and with better balls, you can use backspin. Good luck!

Upgrading the Driver and the Putter make a huge difference.

I am playing the R11 driver and the Redwood ZB putter.

As an amateur, you don't need more custom clubs IMO. You may be close to level 40 soon - there are better clubs waiting for you in the 30+ department.

You have a driver upgrade, good.

You have upgraded your wedges, good. As for keeping the starter wedges, look what you need to have nice steps in distance, including the punch shots.

You might also stick with the starter putter, it ain't that bad, especially in the lowest scale distances. I've had it until now, and I'm trying the Rossa (lvl 55) now - u know about the free rental period through Masters/easter weekend?

Custom balls are a question of credits - they will flow steadily towards wgt. I've been playing the WGT Tour-SD balls for a while - they are a bargain IMO. They take spin nicely, even from the starter clubs. and the costs are like a 5 cr fee for each 9 holes game... OTOH, if you get used to the Starter balls' roll, they work quite well, too.

Be consistent about earning free credits, especially via watching videos, where you can earn about 75 credits per week or more (by not cashing in your views until you have 50, the highest and best turnover ratio).  Secondly, and I notice you have availed yourself of freebie rentals, you should find that just to reach some fairways, your starter driver will not suffice! I recommend getting a 250 yd driver immediately, such as the R11 (1395 credits) or the slightly less performing Ping G10 (700 credits), but wait until you reach level 34 to get the better G10, not the 235 yd one. Bide you time and play tournaments if using good balls or gain experience (practice) if using starter balls.  Thirdly, buying a better driver only and keeping your starter irons is what I recommend because the meter will speed up quickly with advanced clubs using starter balls, so if you only have an advanced driver, only on tee shots will you need to be sharp.  NEXT - if the meter jumps or you are not prepared for how quickly it runs, just DON'T press the final time for the ding - you will NOT be charged for the ensuing practice swing! You might lose the ability to read the reduction percentage if you were in rough or fescue, but it will not have changed if you read it originally and, it will only disappear until your next shot (lie). Fast and slow meters only make a difference if you cannot manage to time them for the ding, but I repeat, if the meter jumps, fight the urge to make the shot - release the ball and take it as a practice swing! Then you might make sure "loop" is off, that you have allocated 10M for flash memory, cleared your history file, and defragged within the last week. These things are often meter jump contributors, as is a connection overload from your ISP, which can be alleviated often by reloading.  Lastly, learn to putt with your starter putter until you have plenty of leftover credits to buy a premium one, but none of them are cost effective if your reflexes are good. STANDARD rule of putting - if greens are rated F, try 100% of (distance +uphill inches) + 1ft - or 100% of (distance - downhill inches) and if severely downhill, minus another foot or two. VF greens, change percentage to 7/8 to 90%. For tournament greens, 75%, all else being the same.  Lastly, only when you get to really advanced clubs will meter speed rise dramatically with starter balls. Then, the better the starter ball, the slower the meter, relatively.

Thanks for the input guys, I'm renting clubs and trying to play a lot this weekend. I hope to hit lvl 29 and buy the R11 as my first driver upgrade.

So far meters are a NON-issue for me . I ding fast meters and slow meters pretty well.
