You have no idea how much easier it is to score with top level equipment.

I have to disagree with that statement, I have no idea what it is but, ( not bragging but I can ding about 80% of the time ) I have the best clubs, the best balls, would be willing to bet my clubs are calibrated the same as yours or very close and I can't get close to qualifying in the open.

Now I am not saying anyone is using help, I know they are not, just to name a few yourself, Fabian, Kriztjan It just may be fate........lol.

I have the same equipment...it dose not seem to help in the qualifying. Every round seems very weird to me. Clubs not going as far as they should or way to far.   Can't seem to judge any breaks consistently...seems like they change everytime I play. Whole lot of VEM. So the question is...how the hell does someone score a 53 with all this VEM I am hearing from this course...lol

Man did you hit the nail on the head, that's exactly what I.m talking about. Or judging the wind, on aiming  on the approach shot...... OMG

Get a grip people....... if I can shoot a 60, anyone can.

I will not qualify either, not because of clubs or balls or VEM or some tinfoil hat but because I just don't play enough.

Gary, Sam is obviously right. Sam didn't mean that everyone can score low with top equipment. He was saying that for a given player, he will score better with top equipment than with lesser equipment.

Do a round with the top equipment and then do it again with starter equipment (as an extreme). Clearly it's much easier with the top equipment :). Now without going into that extreme, try a round with rapture irons (equipment of the guy Sam was replying to) and compare to the R11 irons, you will see what Sam means. For example, approach shots are almost impossible on elevated greens with rapture (because they are not high trajectory).

    Regards

Soulcatcher and others with realistic averages, I'm not talking about you.  Of course we all have good rounds occasionally.

I'm talking about those people with AVERAGES of 60 and below.  That is what I believe is not possible without some type of assistance with your play.

As this post originally started, with all the variables in the game and your hand to eye coordination playing a factor it is, in my humble opinion, impossible for anyone to AVERAGE this low.

With all due respect Bruce, you're wrong.

You have 75 ranked rounds. That isn't enough rounds to make an opinion. When someone plays almost 6000 ranked rounds, they can indeed shoot very low scores.

Players of this caliber know greens very well, and know where to land the ball for the easiest putt. Not every Legend player lands the ball to three feet on every shot. Its the ability to make birdies from 20+ feet that make these players great.

Keep practicing and posting ranked rounds and you too will be as good as these better players one day.

Rome wasn't built in a day. Its an old cliche, but very fitting to make this point.

    you are wrong my freind..

my average is 60.81, and i have the same problems most of players have,,,

so i am guessing the best players on wgt have had once apon a time.

just because others can shoot low scores congratulate them not give them a hard time..

yes a 53 is ridiculous for me to even get near too, and yes i congratulate a player on shooting a 49..

just because these players shoot good scores doesnt meen there is anything dodgy going on!!

it meens there very good players that have put alot of hard work into this game so.... lay offf!!

i only hope i can catch these players 1 day .... happpy shooting....  :)

Blah, blah, blah, keep shooting ranked rounds Mike. You'll get there.

To think these players are using a cheat program is absurd. Now I do believe they use meter tape which is within the rules and does give a player an edge to score good.

    TTEST47:

No real-life pro tournament has ever had a cutoff 10 or 11 strokes under par. When Appleby shot a 59 at the Greenbriar Classic it made history and I believe won him a large cash award (or a flashy new car). While there may be a few hundred super hot shot golfers who can score between 56-60 on even the most difficult course at WGT, for most of the thousands of WGT players this is an impossibility. There are plenty of good players who can shoot par and subpar games but who don't have "crouching tiger" reflexes, a sixth sense of how many yards a ball needs to go to land two feet from the pin, or the ability to consistently sink 30 foot puts! There should be a "second tier" US Open for that large segment of capable but not "super" players.

I absolutely disagree with this notion.  I don't want WGT to offer me a second division Open so I can feel better about myself. I want to get better so I can be in top division. The US Open Quali cut line is ever dropping but I'm getting closer to it at a greater rate. That's good enough as far as I'm concerned. If I don't make it, that's life.

most of the scores can be understood if you change the word 'player' with 'gamer'
