Had a similar experience years ago with a good friend. We were on the back tees, he was a notorious low ball hitter. The club had a sign up for the hole, layout yardage, about 5 feet high on the right side of the tee box about 25 yards in front of us.
He hit a low screamer that hit the square post dead on in the air and bounced back at him and ended up about 20 yards behind us. His only comment was to question whether he should get to hit over again.
