So I am fairly new to the game. Been here about 1 1/2 months. I do not know anyone in regards to the best players. I do know though that claiming someone is cheating because one has been unable to perform the same is getting tired. Again, I am new but I think I play pretty good. I believe there is too much credit given toward deviation and not enough toward club stats like precision and forgiveness.
The real great players know where and how to miss. What I mean by that is they play the ball so if they do miss it does not hurt so bad on top of many other things they do right. I can see where these scores could be shot on a consistent basis. Hell, I even shot a 56 once at Kia. I only say that because I am not that great and have not been playing long and I want to show that even a beginner can shoot fairly low. I try to be consistent and I think that is key. Yes, it was with decent clubs and from the mid tees but I was proud of it non the less. Really, if you want to see why these players are so good go to their stats. Look at stuff like fairway percentage and gir. Great players would have high numbers there with low end clubs from the back. And IMHO, putting will make or break a average. Learn how to put well and everything else will come around. Again, IMHO.
I know I got a bit off track in this post but I guess what I am trying to say is that these great players are great not because of some magical cheat or WGT bias, but because they know how to play the game well. And they do not deserve to feel slated and like they should defend themselves because people have not been able to mimic their success. I know I will never be able to stand up to the top players but I will never claim cheating because someone can do something I have been unable to do.
I would like to say well done to those that are at the top. You deserve at the least that.
This is all just MHO and I certainly am not trying to stir the pot either way. Thank you all for your time my friends.
