A step-by-step guide to playing a round of the WGF Tour

    1. Find a playing partner who is also participating in the WGF Tour using one of the following methods:

        a) Agree a time with a fellow CC member or person who is on your friend list

        b) Send friend requests to other players in the WGF tour and arranges times direct

        c) Use the following link to see WGF players who are on at the same time as you

    List of Registered Players

You can then wall post/FR to arrange a time directly (all times align to GMT)

        d) Use the following link to see if anyone is in the IRC channel looking for a round

IRC Channel (chat room to organise matches)

        e) Post in this thread that you're looking to play a round during a specific timeframe

    - We would highly recommend sending friend requests to 5-10 players who play during the same time window as yourself. This will make finding a playing partner much easier on a weekly basis.

    2. Know the specific playing conditions of the round you are playing. The variables set will include course, wind speed, green speed, hole location, tee box and mandatory equipment.

    3. Play your round only once irrespective of how you and your partner are playing; this is a friendly tour where we want the spirit of golf to be upheld. By following all the rules set out for the tour, it also minimizes the workload which the management team have to do (which will make me very happy ;) )

    4. Take a screenshot when you are on the final green. This should show the green speed, wind speed and also should highlight any mandatory equipment that has been set for that week. Don't rely on your playing partner; make sure you take a shot yourself.

    5. Take a screenshot of your scorecard. Alongside the screenshot of the green, this is essential for verifying your score. Again, don't rely on your playing partner; make sure you take a shot yourself.

    6. Agree which player will post the scorecard / greenshot in the forum. Keep the saves on your PC / Mac, even if you are not having to post them in the forum. Remember that where an equipment restriction is in play, all players must post a screenshot showing the correct equipment was used.

    7. Post your own score using the link provided at the beginning of the week's tournament. Each player is responsible for posting your score. Do not rely on your playing partner to do this. You will need to know how many eagles you've made as well as the number of birdies scored on par 3's. Please be accurate with the information you put in as it will save time for the scorers having to change this on the master scoreboard.

    8. Relax and bask in the glory of seeing your name on the leaderboard (hopefully more toward the top than the bottom). We will aim to update the scoreboard as often as possible (at least once per day) but please be patient as all of us have day jobs and can't give our whole lives over to running this event.

THE NEW WGF TOUR 2012 is a season of weekly tournaments of stroke play and match play for players in the Legend, Tour Masters and Masters Tier only. You'll earn qualification points by  finishing in the top 30 of a tournament, and the points you earn place you in a race for the WGF TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP at the end of the season where the top 25 players will play for the Maserati WGF CUP title.

The WGF Tour will follow a similar format to the WGA Tour but will definitely be distinct in flavour. The tour will comprise of the four majors, one 64 player match player tournament and seven regular season stroke play events (as well as the end of season Tour Championship). Each of the seven events will have a unique set of conditions or equipment restriction to ensure that everyone is challenged throughout the duration of the tour. The end of season tour championship will not just be limited to the top 25 players; there will be end of season finals for the following brackets of players:

    1-25 Maserati Tour Cup
    26-50 BMW Tour Shield
    51-75 Mazda Tour Plate
    76-100 Vauxhall Tour Bowl
    101+ Skoda Tour Spoon

To ensure fairness throughout the competition, you’ll find a full set of rules in a link below. It’s crucial that all players who sign-up to the tour read these through fully before the first event starts.

The WGF Tour will offer a pool of Prizes in the form of credits or equipment (clubs or balls). The amount of prizes will be dependent on sponsorship from the WGT community and our aim is to have a minimum pool of 50000 credits to work from by July 1st 2012 (the current total stands at 81000). A full current list of sponsors follows in a link below. Please reply in this thread, send a PM or wall post if you are able to contribute to the prize pool.

Tournaments are made up of 3 types:

    • Standard WGF Tournament -3 rounds of 9-hole Stroke Play with cut made after 2 rounds
    • WGF Matchplay Tournament -limited to the top 64 players in the WGF Ranking Points Table from the previous 9 tournaments)
    • Major Tournament -  2 rounds of 9-hole & a round of 18-Hole Stroke Play with cut made after 2 rounds

There is a PLAYOFF tournament at the end of season where the points awarded are two times the regular tournaments. The WGF Points system are different for each type of tournament with the Major tournaments having the most points allocated. Please see the link below with the full points allocation system for the WGF Tour.

The WGF Points are reset after the PLAYOFF tournaments for the top 25 players who will play in the WGF TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP for the WGF CUP title. The player who holds the most points from the regular season seeding and the WGF Tour Cup will become the inaugural WGF TOUR CHAMPION.

The season opening tournament, The Memorial will
start on July 1st 2012 so please get involved and get the opportunity to play alongside some of the greats of WGT in this 14 week event. During the WGA Tour, some players found it difficult to organise rounds as they didn’t know many players. To assist you all, we’ve created an IRC chat room for you to log-in to if you are struggling to find a partner. We will try to have players in that chat room during the day but we would also encourage people to post in this forum if they are looking for a playing partner.

Round 3 is always played with a designated partner. When you sign-up, you will be asked for your time zone and usual playing time. When the cut happens, we will then try to pair players together who are generally available at the same time. There will also be a pool of 10 designated round 3 markers who can be contacted if you are not able to play with your assigned partner. This should make it easier for all players to get their rounds played on time.

Please read through the following link which outlines the full rules of the tour. The following post shows you the format of how your scores should be posted in this forum. The full rundown of players assisting with the tour as are follows:

These players are responsible for the checking of scorecards and verification of posted scores throughout the tour. All are active players and should provide plenty of coverage for people needing a partner during the tour. Please bear in mind these are only for R3 of the tour and all players can partner each other for R1 & R2 (subject to the tour rules).

Please see the next post which includes an example of how to post your scorecard and screenshot correctly in the forum. There are plenty of threads about posting scorecards but players and management will help others where needed.

    Prizes

Given the credit pool available, we've worked out a general structure to work from. This maybe tweaked over the next week but it'll certainly be close to what's outlined below. Winnings will be pooled over a period of 3-4 tournaments and will then be paid out cumulatively at a stated time chosen by the management team.

Prizes can be gifted as balls / equipment / avatars or as a MPC loss. Tour management's preference is for balls to be gifted but we appreciate where prizes winnings are lower than the cost of the winning player's usual ball of choice, they may not wish to use this option. Where a player doesn't want to take their prize pool at a gifting stage, they simply need contact a member of Tour Management and then their prize pool will continue forward to the next gifting stage.

The tournament winner and runner(s) up will not be able to win additional prizes for best round, eagles or birdies. They are able to win the HIO / DE prize. This will ensure a fairer split of prizes during the tour.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Most birdies on P3's = 250 credits (lowest ranked player wins)

Hole in one/Double Eagle = 250 credits (to be carried over and pooled cumulatively for the next event if not won)

    Massively appreciated Brio :)

45000 credits and counting; no sign up fees whatsover and players down to 125 will qualify for end of season champs so all players will have a good chance of winning something along the way. Most importantly, it's a great opportunity to play with many of the WGT greats over a lengthy period of time.

    Thanks again B!
