........... I meant to say that regardless of CC affiliation (or not) this was open to everyone.

A simple 'no thanks' would have sufficed.

    ;o(

I'll give it a go, although looking down the list of Deviation members half of them seem to have retired and the other half are living on past glories. I take it they are going to be allowed to borrow players from other clubs to strengthen?

Duly noted Ace!  I'm certainly one of those living on past glory but hey at least there was glory at some point.

Side note, you didn't have a picture of me in that line up.   I'm the guy with FAIL tattooed on his forehead.  :)

    To WigerToods,

I'm not sure what you mean my friend .... I'm not sure what you were referring to but if you read it correctly you'll see I have no problem with you participating.

However, I'm not running this piece of the tournament.    Once the team is picked --- I'll work with Godel & MB to set up the matches from  the "All Star" team with our Deviations team.

    Good Luck

Looks like a great team you guys are putting together.  What about Priestess, Dianne, Cyl6 and countless other all stars not yet listed?

Come on people, The Devs are looking to take a good old a$ whooping so keep these great players coming.  Lou put all our (Devs) necks on the chopping block on this one but it sure looks like it will be a fun battle.

great to see you back on and in chirpy fettle :)

    tbe

Thanks TBE.  Good to be back.  Much needed break but my game is way out of form.  Not coming back with the same intensity and dedication of playing 4 hours every night but I sure do miss this community when I take my sabbaticals.

And damnit man, I can't get enough of Monte's Little Wing.  Do you find yourself laughing out loud watching that like I do?  Can only shake my head and dream. Hoping to catch him on my next trip back out to Texas.

yupps...he's got a unique style of playing...which really stands out. I think Hendrix would even be impressed with that version unlike Steve Via's which is OK but it don't jump out at you so much cause it's so predictable. :)

Back to the tourney......it's looking to be a belter.

The Dev's have got their work cut out for them I'm thinking,

I've been saying that all along Edge ...

We're going to need a Ton of Zippy Dust to pull this one off.

The Deviations would like to thank WGTIcon for playing the part of Tinkerbell in this short clip.

His style reminds me a lot of Eric Johnson. MM is a great player for sure.

    OK some stupid questions now...

    godelescher:

The WGT All-Stars Invitational Tournament will decide 12 of the 16 spots on the WGT All-Star Team. The remaining 4 spots will be chosen by the team captain, mbaggese

What does that means? The remaining 4 spots are chosen by mbaggese, this is the clear part, but who will choose the other 12 players?

    godelescher:

    • Once the invitations have been sent, the field will be limited to the first 48 people who accept.

It looks like we need 16 players for the challenge from Deviation. Why do you need to make a list of 48 players? What will happen to the other 32 players?

    Thanks for the clarifications.

    Regards

No offence meant Jake, it was a wind up comment but I do have a bit of an issue, and I know many others do, with the attitude behind this comp. I have had a long day but will address this tomorrow.

    Genorb,

48 people is two rounds of knock out match play. After two rounds, 12 people will remain. Those twelve people are automatically in.

The other 4 are chosen by the Team Captain in an attempt to round out the team in a way that seems appropriate for the challenge.

We decided to go with having a knock out tournament to qualify because neither Mike nor I feel qualified to decide for all of WGT who is the best of the best.

We figure it's better to have an embarrassment of riches than to arbitrarily say player X gets to play, but player Y cannot.

I sent out about 60 invites based almost entirely on your top 100 list, but also made a couple of judgment calls - nothing major, but a couple of decisions that fell outside of a strictly average-based list.

I over-invited because there are always reasons why someone may not be able to participate, that's why it's limited to the first 48. Also because more than 48 would be unwieldy.

The Captain's picks serve an additional purpose too. If there is a glaring omission in the line up (like if BolloxInBruges somehow missed the cut on the Dev's side) then the captain has the ability to rectify that situation (if that's what he chooses to do).

It is certainly not my intent or Mike's intent to make waves, but to organize this event in the spirit with which it was intended. We may make some mistakes, but our hearts are in the right place.

I hope that answers your questions.
