    Consistency in handling the rough shots is the key to being a winner or an also-ran.

    yeah..yeah..I knew before striking a ball i had no chance of EVER doing well in the tournament anyway (& good luck to those who do well) ...front 9 FULL of these so called "rough" shots, but back 9 everything normal, birdie every hole, bar 1. The difference was astonishing. These high stake prizes, a small pool of players will get "limited" deviation the usual suspects & WGT favourites and the winners will come from these.  None of this having to put up with "rough" shots, 80% of their shots will act normally, compared to 20% myself and others who are not in the winning pool have to put up with.  Not complaining, i dont really give a to55 about it because its WGT's game and they can give their prizes to who ever they want, its not a fair shot for all of us, most of us are handicapped.  You lot can abuse the post all you like but when a front 9 reacts so different in gameplay and precision to the back it was more amusing than anything else, it made me finish with a laugh, and look forward to seeing the 55's or 56's posted from the rounds from the usual who their clubs ALWAYS have 4.5 precision compared to the 1 the majority of us put up with. Deviation they call it, "score limitation" is what i witness.

    (oh, by the way, i too got 18 mph HEADWIND on 1, giving me no chance to birdie, and the 14 mph wind on #2 had no effect and landed me way off hole, and the 4 foot put for par acted like a slice not a dinger.bla.bla.bla i could go on and on about them Jim, but i'm done with bothering the forums. I've got my conclusion about the game, and no round in hell can make me change my opinion. Should go back to the poker sites, the sit & go's there are no different.LOLOLOL)

    Chris; just out of interest, have you livestreamed any rounds before? Surely that's your best argument for showing us all that you're getting these massive deviations and in-turn could be used a much more forceful case to WGT to make changes happen.

    Once your meter's on view, a lot of people who get on your case will soon shut up if you can actually show them that it's happening.

    You know what I find most amusing is that the real Open played the same way. Holes 1 through 6 brought down most of the field, including Tiger, and the back 9 was touted as the place to get strokes back you lost on the front. Looks like it played that way for you and Dianne81 and probably everybody else that plays the Championship.

    FWIW, you're down to 10th for the first round. I don't see any of these "favourites" you refer to in front of you, just regular players really succeeding. I never even heard of LuisCraveiro and he knocked down a nice 59!! You think that's because he's flying under the WGT radar, or something?

    Just an aside here, what would you call the drive Furyk hit off the 16th tee Sunday? Or GMac's sand shot on 18?  How would you replicate that in this game?

    Not complaining? Come on man. Your stats are good and your average is low. Why you would think you have no chance going in to a Tourney like this makes no sense.

    If you think you are beaten, you are,
    If you think you dare not, you don't,
    If you'd like to win, but think you can't,
    It's almost a "cinch" you won't.
    If you think you'll lose, you've lost,
    For out in the world you find
    Success begins with a fellow's will;
    It's all in the state of mind.

    Full many a race is lost
    Ere ever a step is run;
    And many a coward fails
    Ere ever his work's begun.
    Think big and your deeds will grow,
    Think small and you'll fall behind,
    Think that you can and you will;
    It's all in the state of mind.

    If you think you're outclassed, you are,
    You've got to think high to rise,
    You've got to be sure of yourself before
    You can ever win a prize.
    Life's battles don't always go
    To the stronger or faster man,
    But sooner or later, the man who wins,
    Is the fellow who thinks he can.

    How many Olympians will we see this summer blaming conditions or bizarre incidents for not winning medals? I predict a very very very small number...

    Anyway, back on thread; conditions are tough, greens are quick. Make sure you're leaving uphill putts on every hole where possible if you want to post a number to leave you in a competitive position (essentially everything I didn't on the F9 :-) ).

    I have to say I had about as good a set of conditions as I could have expected. Tail winds on 1, 2, 6, 7 & 9 meant scoring was much better for me than normal. The back 9 proved a lot tougher with strong head winds on 11 and 12 followed by an horrendous right to left wind on 13.

    I found the greens slick but not terrifying. I am scratching my head as to how 3 putts stayed above ground but 20 foot sliders have to be exact to drop.

    I can see a 56 leading after round 1.

    See...that is where I totally disagree with WGT.  The conditions should be the same for everyone.  Why should they differ in a big tournament like this one?  Depending upon when you play or log in you could have an advantage over someone else.

    Probably so others can't find out what the conditions are I'm guessing.

    Happy hitting

    They weren't in the real Open.
