the finals are a crap shoot...luck of the draw, whoever gets the best wind set should dominate, folks should know this by now lol.

good luck and may the luckiest person with the most favourable winds and slighest VEM interfering with their shots win.

Heath021 I tend to agree with you on this matter but you know what? Sometimes we can make too much of head winds and tail winds and how it affects your scoring.

Yesterday playing the 4 day Olympic tournament I had a 20mph head wind on the 16th, the 670 yard par 5. After wiping away my tears I hit a 4 iron into the green to 6 feet and managed a birdie.

Today I had an 18mph tail wind. My second shot ran out of fairway and ended up in the 40/50. I knocked the 3rd shot on to 10 feet and missed. Today's conditions appeared perfect but I made an ass of it.

there's got to be something not right when one player off 1st tee gets 18mph wind blowing straight into their kisser (birdie chance bye bye) & the next player up gets 18 mph tailwind leaving an easy 5 iron to green.

i hear what people are saying when they say *cough* *cough* "the winds even themselves out over the course of play".....but I beg to differ and from the results posted, i have to say it don't look too even from where i'm standing....when there's at least a 14 shot margin from the leader to a player who i know can putt the lights out of the best here on wgt.....you always can tell which players got the decent wind sets & less VEM interference effecting their shots.

having said that.....it's been fun and someone has to win it.....and well done WGT for giving us yet another fantastic tournament.

I made some really good comments and posts a while ago, about same conditions in single play games to all playes to make game fair,  and to let the skill play.... but I was stoned

best player, winner, should be the BEST PLAYER, THE ONE WHO PLAY WELL, and not the one that had the best wind, and deviation. just having opposite winds in #7 is a 2 stroke difference for 2 good players.

The conditions should be the same for everyone.

They weren't in the real Open.

No they weren't YJ but they were constant from hole to hole.....that's one of the big faults on here......If two holes run in line or along side each other then the wind should be exactly the same or totally opposite......not 20 in your face then 10 L-R or whatever.

If there is gonna be variable wind, then make it gust or drop, but indicate that it's happening.......or even real time weather change throughout the day.

Just a suggestion about this wind thing. Why doesn't someone who is in a country club set up a bogus tournament with high winds and get it to where 4 different players tee off at basically the same time to see what wind each one received.

Probably didn't explain that right but hoping someone understands.

In all multyplayer games all participants have same wind. that is great, that is a good way to see how good you are against another player.

Imagine having a match play and both player having different winds every time they shot. Different wind in same holes. for example: going to St, Andrews #14 with tail wind for your opponent giving him the chance to make the green in 2, and you having head wind having to try the 5th fairway facing the chance to go OB... That will make a hard birdie chance vs an eagle chance... NOT FAIR. Is the same in a tournament. we are playing against other people and is not fair having different conditions.

Who is the winner? the best player or the luckiest player?  that is the question.

If you are replying to my post, that is not what I meant. 4 different folks playing the same course at the same time but in single play.

this is where match play for credits....skins and blitz challenges for credits beat  RG's all the time, because all players have the same wind sets.....which is why the trend has moved towards those game set ups....because they're a lot fairer.

personally i think random winds in single plays "to stop players sharing wind knowledge" is complete crap......i mean if i shot a 57, the last thing I'm gonna do is tell my opposition the wind set up so that he may be better prepared and thus shoot lower and beat me eh? after all it ain't a $1 ready go here we're talking about.
