JimbeauC:
I have a suggestion for a great place to put "News."
For what it's worth, WGT put it on the WGTnews page yesterday, so your suggestion seems to have worked.
I appreciate that WGT has tried hard to interact with the game players a lot more as of late, but there's no denying the ball was dropped here.
Many players don't come to the forum at all. Either the game works or it doesn't for a lot of people; regardless of fault.
Three days after the Great Flash Error, there are still people in the game lobby who have no idea why they're wildly slicing every shot.
Overall, the game has evolved in a good direction, and issues have mostly been addressed, but WGT's Achilles heel has always been, and continues to be communications.
If there is important news or an issue with the game, whether it's Flash or something else, it should be announced in the game client with a link to more information.
They hit a homerun with game client warnings about impending shutdowns. That they haven't recognized the value in that is an executive fumble.
Go where the people are, don't expect them to come to you. They wont.
Edit: WGT put a pop up announcement in the game client the day before writing this post... Now I feel dumb.
