What an amazing way to get someone to want to jump to your aid.  Hope that works out for you.

It might be in the cookies, David. Some of them are tracking cookies and can discern that info. Other sites you visit can plant them without you knowing it. You might want to manage the cookie handling by not allowing them and setting WGT up as an exception.

It's cookies. I was online looking for Tire's for my car a month ago and now I get ads while playing from Tire Rack and Bridgestone whenever I play WGT. WHY? Because (if you haven't noticed) WGT sells ad space-not  to just certain products but in an ad pakage called bundles-Let CNET explain:

Pop-ups, and the less common pop-unders, are advertisements that appear when a user uses a Web browser. These advertisements are considered a form of spam because they are unsolicited. Most users find them distracting and undesirable.

David, have you not noticed that when you click "play now" you are told to turn off pop-up blocker?

Have you also noticed that when  you play a game it says your game will begin in 9 seconds (while an ad appars) Guess what everyone gets different ads depending on where you have been on the "net".

As far as the privacy issue goes-you forfeit that when you go on the internet--there are no rules in  the virtual world of advertising. So if you want to eliminate Most of the ads follow the above advice and manage your browser settings.

Those pop-ups remain unpersonal here but the ones around the main window and sometimes on the game client (scorecard display) too reflect what I have been looking for in online shops lately.

Right now there's a German advert for a DeLonghi coffee machine, alas too late - bought one last week.

Thanx Jim and Lisa for your concerns and advice. Cookies, pop-up/under, spam, I am aware of. FWIW, I use Comodo Dragon exclusively for WGT, and delete all activity before I sign off. All other web activities are through IE, yahoo.

I realize ads are a source of revenue for WGT. (even though cpu performance while playing is like a yo-yo) LOL......lets not even go there community!...;)

thanx again for the info, Lisa!

There is an Ad Blocker extension you can download for Chrome And Comodo that will prevent those ads. You will only see a black square during game loads but it doesn't stop the load time the ads use. Also don't know if you know to turn off the survey notification in the game options menu.
